Hey Lightglider!
We’ve just spent a few weeks learning about Chapter 1 of the Far Greater Story – Creation. To understand Creation is to understand that God created everything, and that includes you and me! And because He created us in His image, we have dignity, purpose, and tremendous value. This part of the story explains how we got here.
Today we are introducing Chapter 2 of the Far Greater Story, which is called Rebellion. This explains what went wrong in our broken world. A rebellion is an open resistance to an established ruler. As our Creator, God is our authority. He is in charge. To rebel against Him is to disobey His commands. This is called “sin.” We sin when we miss the mark of God’s goodness and love. Whether we sin on purpose or by accident, we are rebelling against God’s loving rule and are violating our purpose. The Bible shares how this first happened in Genesis 3. But, it has also happened a lot by me, you, and everyone else. We all have sinned. And the Bible tells us that the consequences of sin is death.
This is why we need to be rescued. We need our sin forgiven, our lives transformed, and our world healed. Until we understand this, the good news of Jesus will not make sense to us.
Pray this week for help to recognize the ways in which you have rebelled against God’s loving rule and pray for the courage to confess these things to Him. Then read this week’s theme verse - 1 John 1:8-9. It is good news!

• In what ways have you rebelled against God?
• When has someone wronged you?
• What does it look like for you to obey God’s commandments?
• How can understanding our rebellion lead us to humility?

• Practice honest prayer! Take a quiet moment this week to talk to God about times you’ve made mistakes or disobeyed. Ask Him for forgiveness and strength to grow.
• Say sorry quickly! If you hurt someone with your words or actions, shine by apologizing right away and asking for forgiveness. This reflects humility and love.
• Choose obedience! Look for one way each day to follow God’s commands - like honoring your parents, telling the truth, or showing kindness, even when it’s hard.
