Scripture
“Be still, and know that I am God!” - Psalm 46:10a (NLT)
Message
Our world operates at a fast pace. We wake up, eat breakfast, go to school, come home, do homework, eat dinner, go to bed, and repeat it all the next day. If we’re not careful, our schedules can quickly control our entire lives.
In this verse in Psalm 46, God is commanding that we be still before Him. Why? Because being still and slowing down allows a couple of things to happen: 1) we have the opportunity to reflect and remember all that God has done for us, and 2) we are reminded that we are not in control, that none of our working or our hustle gives us anything. All we have has been freely given by God. Being still shows us that God is God and we are not, and reminds us that He is good and in control.
