Scripture
“I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.” - 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (NLT)
Message
All that we have talked about in The Far Greater Story--Creation, Rebellion, Redemption, and Restoration--is based upon one historical event: the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Think about that. Something happened in human history that confirms that the story is true!
Please watch all The Far Greater Story sparks this week.
•Creation tells us how this world became a reality. God created.
•Rebellion explains why there is suffering, brokenness, and strife all around us. We are each sinners, and our sin requires judgment.
•Redemption shares how Jesus paid the penalty for our sin at the cross and bought back our lives.
•Restoration gives us insight into why our future is bright. Jesus will restore all that is broken and God will live with His people forever.
•The Cross reminds us that this is not a fairy tale. This is a true story based upon a historical event, the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Christianity rests upon this event. If Jesus did not die on a cross and come back to life, then our faith in Him is ultimately useless.
But the truth is that He did die. He was buried in a tomb and He rose again, defeating death and conquering sin on our behalf. This is what we call the Gospel. Gospel simply means “good news,” and the good news that we have in Jesus is that through His death, burial, and resurrection we can be forgiven and live with God forever.
