Rebellion

‍

Hey Lightglider!

‍

We’ve just spent a few weeks learning about Creation. To understand Creation is to understand that God created everything, and that includes you and me! And because He created us in His image, we have dignity, purpose, and tremendous value. This is the first part of the Far Greater Story of God’s love for us revealed in the Bible. 

‍

The second part of the story is called Rebellion. A rebellion is an open resistance to an authority. As our Creator, God is our authority. To rebel against Him is to disobey His commands. This is called “sin.” We sin when we miss the mark and do not live up to God’s standard of goodness and love. Whether we sin on purpose or by accident, we are rebelling against God and are violating our purpose. This has happened a lot by me, you, and everyone else. We all have rebelled against God and His goodness. And the Bible tells us that the penalty of this rebellion is death. 

‍

This is why we need to be rescued. The penalty for our rebellion needs to be paid. Our sin needs to be forgiven. Until we understand this, the good news of Jesus will never make any sense to us.  

‍

Pray this week for help to recognize the ways in which you have rebelled against God and for the courage to confess them to Him. Then read this week’s theme verse -- I John 1:8-9!

Cave In

Hey Lightgliders, Tambika here! I have a new bonus mission to give to you! We’ve received word of a Cave In inside the Volcano, and we need to chart a new path through the blight that’s built up in there. But there are many powerful Machines inside! With your defense system jammed, you won’t be able to fight back! Luckily, they are trapped in the blight.

If you can create a path through the blight that doesn’t let the Machines escape, you can beat this mission! Plot your course carefully and you’ll come out on top! You may be thinking,  “Vol-ca-no!” But, I say “Vol-ca-YES!” You can do it!

Have you completed some of the secondary objectives? Doing so earns you extra Materials! Can you clear 100 blight in this mission? Choose what blight to clear carefully, though--those Machines are ready for any mistake!

Hey Lightglider!

‍

The last three weeks we have learned about how God is our Creator. Because He created us, we have tremendous purpose. We can know that our lives matter because they do! If God took the time to make you, then you are extremely valuable. We also learned that God created us in His image. Because you are made in the image of a powerful, good, and creative God, you have the ability to be creative yourself. What good things are you inspired to create today?

‍

Think of ways to use your unique gifts to put a smile on other people’s faces. Dream of ways to make an impact. Live with passion. Pursue beauty. Use your imagination. Be inspired. Create art and music. Come up with new ideas and innovations to help the world around you. 

‍

If you go into the Academy this week, use creativity to design an awesome treehouse. Use imagination to encourage others with every postcard you send out. Inspire others to play games together.

Be creative today. In doing so, you will reflect your Creator.

Respect

Hey Lightgliders!

‍

As we continue to learn about being God’s creation - created with dignity and for a purpose - we are taking a look this week at respect! Because you bear God’s image, you are worthy of respect. And this is true of everyone you meet! That’s why the #1 goal of a Lightglider is respect - respect for ourselves and respect for others. We pursue this goal because when you respect yourself and you respect others, you are honoring the One in whose image you were created!

‍

So how do we do that? We show respect in the way we treat others. We seek to care about everyone we meet. We also seek to care for our own minds, hearts, and bodies. 

‍

Whether it’s your best friend or someone you don’t get along with very well, choosing to show respect is what Lightgliders strive to do. So, when you’re in Mission Control, the Courtyard, the Library, or the Innovation Lab, look for ways to show respect to the other Lightgliders.

Tambika’s Treehouse

Lightglider! It’s Tambika, and I need your help! My Treehouse was just attacked and it’s covered in blight! Can you help me restore it all? 

Luckily, I had stored a ton of RES orbs before the attack. Just open up some of the safe areas to recharge your RES! Help rescue the Gliddles and relocate them to a safer Treehouse while we restore mine!

Hi Lightgliders!

Purpose is one of the five core values of a Lightglider. To live with purpose means to live with the belief that your life matters. As Lightgliders, we believe that our lives are both valuable and meaningful. But how do we know this is true? It comes from the truth that God made us in His image. As we learned last week, God created us in His image, so our lives have worth and dignity that no one can take away. If the Creator of the universe took time to create you, then guess what. Your life matters and you are here for a reason! To live with purpose means to live every day with this strong belief.

In Lightglider Academy, we rescue Gliddles, clear the blight, and seek to help others any way we can. Look around you. The world is in need and you were uniquely created to make a difference! Each day provides us a new opportunity to live an adventure filled with purpose!

Keep Out!

It’s Kwan again! I wanted to give you some tips for taking on this mission. We’re sending you back into the abandoned building where lots of Machines have taken up residence. There’s a defense jammer installed there, so if you don’t have a Gliddle with you, you won’t be able to battle Machines! You have to use your wits and careful gliding to get you out of some sticky situations!

There’s a powerful Machine at the end of the mission. Concentrate on avoiding its blasts and let the Gliddles you find do their work!

Don’t forget to check for secret areas; the overgrowth in the building might have opened up new pathways!

Hello there Lightglider!

‍

Did you know that the Bible begins by telling us that God is the Creator. The very first verse of Genesis tells us this! He created the heavens, the earth, the animals, and human beings. And He called all that He created good. And Genesis 1:27 tells us that God created us in His image. You were made in the image of a good, holy, and loving God.

‍

Do you realize what this means?! It means that our lives matter! It means that our lives are valuable! It means that we are capable of extraordinary things! 

‍

Because you bear God’s image, you have dignity and purpose that is worthy of honor and respect. And, in the same way a mirror reflects your image back to you, you have the opportunity to reflect the image of God to the world. You are a light made to shine!

Timberlands Approach

Hey, it’s Bryce! Are you ready to take on the Machines once again? We’re sending you to the Timberlands Approach, an area infested with Machines! Rescue the Gliddles there and get ready to battle!

Watch out for Machine attacks, especially from the blue Machines! Their blasts are very powerful. If you get hit too much, you’ll lose a chunk of armor and have to start back at the last checkpoint!

Be careful out there, and remember to keep an eye out for secret grates!

The Far Greater Story

Hey Lightglider!

Did you know that the Lightgliders story that you have entered into points to a far greater, far more important story? As you continue to learn about being a Lightglider, you’ll hear that we seek to respect, rescue, and restore. And you will learn how this points to The Far Greater Story, the true story of God’s love for us found in the Bible!

‍

The Bible reveals God as the ultimate respecter, rescuer, and restorer. He RESPECTS us by creating us in His image and giving us dignity and purpose. He RESCUES us from the grip of our sin and selfishness through the death and resurrection of Jesus. And He promises to RESTORE us and our broken world one day so that we may live forever with Him. This is The Far Greater Story.

We are so glad you’re here. Yes, you are here to play games, meet friends, and have fun. But, your purpose for being here is far greater!

Ruby has been nominated several times by fellow Lightgliders for the Spotlight! Her friends in the Academy say that she is really kind, generous, giving, and loving. Ruby often participates in community events, has a great Treehouse, and knows the rules of the Academy. She welcomes others and gives awesome tours. Way to go, Ruby!

Timberlands Treetops

Hey, Lightglider! It’s Bryce. Our next mission is to head back to the Timberlands and explore the treetops! There are lots of dangerous Machines up there, but I know you’ll battle them with ease!

A great tactic to deal with faster Machines is to “kite!” When a Machine charges you, start slowly backing away, firing behind you as you go. The Machine will try to chase you, but they won’t be able to catch you. It’s like you’re stringing along a kite behind you!

Use this tactic on many of the smaller Machines. You’ll come out on top! Glide on!

MADE TO SHINE

Hey Lightgliders!

‍

If you are new around here, we - the other Lightglider leaders and me - want you to know that you were MADE TO SHINE! That is something you will hear a lot around here because we need to be reminded of it regularly. Let me tell you what this means.

• God created you uniquely. There is no one in the history of the world like you. No one else has your exact personality, interests, and talents. In other words, you were made. 

• You have opportunities every day to use your uniqueness to love God and to love others in ways that only you can. When you do this, you shine.

• When you put these two ideas together, it is easy to see that you were made to shine! 

‍

And this is what we Lightgliders seek to do. With a lot of darkness in the world, this can feel like a big responsibility. But like a candle in a dark tunnel, even the smallest light can be blinding. If you’ve been to Machine Bunker in the Yonders, you know what I mean!

‍

Jesus is the true light of the world. As we follow Him, we will shine like stars in the heavens and make an impact on the world. Let’s reflect His love and light everywhere we go!

Things to Think About

Here are some activities for you to do and questions to reflect upon this week in Lightgliders. Do these by yourself or with a family member!

• Read John 1:1-5 in the Bible. What are all the things we learn about the “Word” in these verses?

• What does it mean to live in God’s light and to share it with the world?

• What do you think it means to shine?

• In what ways do you shine in the darkness?

• How were you uniquely made to love God and love others?

• How could your interests, personality, or talents be used to shine?

Flooded Bunker

Bryce here! Good job in the previous Bunker! You’re becoming a tremendous Lightglider. I have another mission for you. We’ve found another Bunker that creates Machines, this time underneath the big lake in the Yonders. The Machines there will be alerted to your presence, so stay sharp! Remember, different Gliddles are better at battling some Machines than others, so pay attention to the colors of the Machines and your Gliddles! Right-click to swap your active Gliddle!

Orange Gliddles are better in one-on-one battles…

...and Yellow Gliddles are great for taking on a crowd!

Hey there! Welcome to Lightgliders. My name is Kwan, and it’s my job to make sure you’re outfitted, trained, and ready for action. As we have learned over the last few months, the Lightgliders goals, values, mission, and leaders exist to point to the Far Greater Story of God's love for us revealed in the Bible. When we grow as Lightgliders, we will shine in the world around us and point others to the Far Greater Story as well!

‍

This week we are reminding our amazing community just what it means to be a Lightglider! So, whether you are new to Lightgliders or have been in the Academy for a while, I encourage you to pay close attention.  

‍

Lightgliders are defenders of good. We are a team that shines light in the darkness and helps out those in need. And, right now, the land of Glideon needs us! For unknown reasons, a mysterious gooey substance called blight is spreading all over the land. At the same time, strange Machines have appeared and are kidnapping lovable creatures called the Gliddles! It’s up to us to go on missions to clear away the blight and rescue the Gliddles from the Machines!

‍

Being a Lightglider is a purposeful adventure. As you engage in all there is to do in the Academy and throughout the Yonders, you will have opportunities to learn about the greatest adventure there is–to know, grow in, and show God’s love.

‍

If you are here in Lightgliders on a computer, click “Enter Lightglider Academy” to access the full Lightgliders experience. You’ll battle Machines, rescue Gliddles, clear blight, meet other Lightgliders, and much more.

If you are here on a mobile device, you’re most likely already in the Academy! Explore the Courtyard, Innovation Lab, Library, and Mission Control! Play minigames, watch videos, create postcards, and read messages. As you do, you will level up your light bar and unlock more fun content.

Many of the activities inside Lightgliders are color-coded, so make sure you know what the colors mean. Let me try to help!

Everything in Green is a Spark. These are short video stories that help us learn an important lesson from the Bible.

Everything in Orange is a Prayer. These are short prayer videos to do on your own or with a family member.

Everything in Red is a Message. These are articles about Lightgliders gameplay, the weekly lessons, Bible studies, and more. (Fun fact: You are currently reading one!)

Everything in Blue is LGTV.  These are gameplay videos to encourage fun, learning, and laughter.

In time, you’ll learn more than just skills for battle and adventure. You’ll learn about the Far Greater Story found in the Bible, the story about the God who loves you more than you could possibly imagine.  As Lightgliders, we seek to RESPECT, RESCUE, and RESTORE every day because that is what God has done and is doing for us, in us, and through us.  You were made to use what He has given you to help a world in need.  You were made to shine!

Blighted Grassland

It’s Tambika, calling on you again to take on a new mission! We’re sending you into the Grasslands, a sprawling area that’s filled with blight and Machines. Keep your wits about you and be on the lookout for secret areas! And check out that cool speedboat in the water; who do you think brought that to the Grassland?

We’ve picked up several hidden areas with our sensors. Look for these around fences, grates, and doors and you might find a ton of treasures!

Hey Lightgliders! 

‍

We have learned what it looks like to be a role model and to be faithful with how God has uniquely made us. So now we want to look at “impact,” which is the influence we have on the world. As you share God’s love with others, you will have a great impact. God has created you with unique strengths and gifts! And, according to this week’s theme verse, He has planned good things for you to do with your life. These good things will impact the world in a positive way. I hope that as you go on missions, play games, or watch videos in Lightgliders, you discover what you are passionate about, what you are good at, and what gifts others see in you.  And as you continue to KNOW and GROW in God’s love, you will SHOW others that life with Him is an amazing adventure!

Think about the kind of impact you want to have on the world, and ask God to empower you to be and do everything He created you to be and to do.

Timberlands Camp

Welcome back, Lightglider! Tambika here. I have another mission for you! You’re heading to a strange camp in the Timberlands. This mysterious place has pools, gardens, trees...it might be beautiful, if it weren’t for all the blight there! Help rescue the Gliddles by restoring the land and the trees in the area. Make sure to be strategic with your RES--only grab RES orbs when you have already used a lot of RES!

FAITHFULNESS

Hey Lightgliders!

‍

We’ve been talking quite a bit about the character qualities that our Lightglider leaders display in their lives! We can look up to them and imitate the unique ways they lead, serve, and seek out God’s wisdom! Now you get to take a look at YOURSELF! One of the greatest character qualities for Lightgliders to grow in is faithfulness. The word “faithful” means to be true, steadfast, and loyal. As Lightgliders, we want to be faithful to God and to how He has uniquely made us.

‍

How has God made you unique? What does it look like to be faithful to Him as you use your unique gifts, talents, and personality for His glory? God is the greatest example of faithfulness. He has been, and will always be, fully faithful to His promises that we read in the Bible. As you are faithful, God’s character will be on display through you!

‍

Can you think of examples of faithfulness? Here are a few that I thought of for when I am in Lightglider Academy:

• Taking care of and decorating my Treehouse so that the Gliddles have a beautiful place to live

• Sending Postcards to other Lightgliders to encourage them

• Using Boosts on other Lightgliders to help them on their Yonders missions

• Partnering with the Gliddles to battle the Machines more effectively

And here are a few for when I am in my home:

• Following through on what I say I am going to do

• Doing what my parents ask of me

• Using my words to encourage others

• Taking time to pray to the One who is faithful to me

• How are you a faithful person?

• How has God been faithful to you?

Faith was nominated by fellow Lightgliders for the Spotlight for being so kind, loving, and giving tours to others. Faith follows the rules of the Academy and encourages others to do the same. She hands out boosts and helps settle arguments in a calm way. Way to go, Faith!

Archer is a great example of what it means to be a Lightglider. He always obeys the rules of chat, respects fellow Lightgliders, is kind and silly, and fun to be around. Way to go, Archer!

Neglected Institute

Bryce here! I’ve pinpointed the location of an abandoned Institute. It’s full of Machines that we have to battle, as well as Gliddles we need to rescue! 

Be careful roaming those halls--our sensors show that there are giant Machines inside. Team up with Gliddles and battle hard! Remember, if a Gliddle gets tired, the next Gliddle will take its place as your battle partner. Right-click to switch Gliddles on the fly. Maybe you want to conserve a Gliddle’s energy, or maybe you’ll want to use the right Gliddle for the job!

There seems to be an interconnected door system in the Institute. Unlocking one door will unlock many others! Be on the lookout for door switches and out-of-place grates!
