Waterfall Meadow

Hi, Lightglider! My name is Tambika, and I handle administration here at Lightglider Academy. I’m ready to send you on your first official mission: going to Waterfall Meadow! You’ll learn the basics of gliding, battling, and rescuing there. Here’s a couple of tips to help you out: 

1. Use your mouse to glide around. Remember to keep your cursor on the game screen at all times to maximize your movements!
2. When rescuing Gliddles, you can carry up to five at a time. To rescue more Gliddles, drop the ones you have off at a Zipway to send them back to the Academy, and then go find more Gliddles!

3. Remember to keep your distance when battling Machines! Stay close enough so that your defense system will activate, but far enough away so that you can dodge Machine attacks!

There are plenty of treasures and secrets in the Yonders. Keep your eyes peeled for things that don’t seem to belong in their surroundings! Hope to see you back in the Courtyard soon!

SEPTEMBER 6 - SEPTEMBER 12

Forgiveness

Hey Lightglider!

We have been learning about The Far Greater Story in recent weeks. This is the most important story ever. It is the true story of God’s love for us! 

We talked about how God is good and has created all things good. However, we have rebelled against Him and His standard for goodness. This is called sin. It causes destruction in the world and it separates us from God. It is the reason the world has so many problems. 

Once we recognize that we have rebelled against God, we have the opportunity to repent. To repent means to turn away from sin and turn to God, and it requires humility. The Bible tells us to repent of our sins so that they may be wiped away. When God wipes away our sin, that is an act that we call forgiveness. 

Do you remember last week’s verse of the week? If we confess our sin, God is faithful to forgive us! God forgives us of our sin and puts us in a right relationship with Him. With God’s forgiveness, we are free from the penalty of our sin. And when we understand that God is willing to forgive us even when we don’t deserve it, we can forgive others as well!

Knowing that God is willing to forgive you, who do you need to forgive this week?

Guard Dogs

Bryce here! I have a special mission for you. There are small groups of Machines that are patrolling the Yonders. I need you to help battle them! It looks like they aren’t too difficult to defeat, but their Materials disappear quickly!

Slow and steady wins the race with these Machines. Try to battle the smaller guard Machines first, since their Materials last longer than the pink Machines!

Using a Pink Gliddle to soften the Machine’s armor and then using an Orange Gliddle to slow them down is a strong tactic. Make sure to stay clear of the yellow Machines, but rush the pink ones!

AUGUST 30 - SEPTEMBER 5

Rebellion

Hey Lightglider!

We’ve just spent a few weeks learning about Creation. To understand Creation is to understand that God created everything, and that includes you and me! And because He created us in His image, our lives have purpose and tremendous value. This is the first part of the Far Greater Story of God’s love for us revealed in the Bible. 

The second part of the story is called Rebellion. A rebellion is an open resistance to an authority. As our Creator, God is our authority. To rebel against Him is to disobey His commands. This is called “sin.” We sin when we do not live up to God’s standard of goodness and love. Whether we sin on purpose or by accident, we are rebelling against God and are violating our purpose. This happens a lot by you and by everyone else. We all have rebelled against God and His goodness. And the Bible tells us that the penalty of this rebellion is death. 

This is why we need to be rescued. The penalty for our rebellion needs to be paid. Our sin needs to be forgiven. Until we understand this, the good news of Jesus will never make any sense to us.  

Pray this week for help to recognize the ways in which you have rebelled against God and for the courage to confess them to Him. Then read this week’s theme verse -- I John 1:8-9!

Cave In

Hey Lightgliders, Tambika here! I have a new bonus mission to give to you! We’ve received word of a Cave In inside the Volcano, and we need to chart a new path through the blight that’s built up in there. But there are many powerful Machines inside! With your defense system jammed, you won’t be able to fight back! Luckily, they are trapped in the blight.

If you can create a path through the blight that doesn’t let the Machines escape, you can beat this mission! Plot your course carefully and you’ll come out on top! You may be thinking,  “Vol-ca-no!” But, I say “Vol-ca-YES!” You can do it!

Have you completed some of the secondary objectives? Doing so earns you extra Materials! Can you clear 100 blight in this mission? Choose what blight to clear carefully, though--those Machines are ready for any mistake!

Kindness

Hey Lightglider!

This is the last week of our Unit on Creation. Understanding that we were created by God and for God can and should deeply affect our daily lives. This week we’re talking about KINDNESS, which is an attribute of God that we can reflect. So, we don’t just want to talk about kindness this week, we want to show it! To be kind means to be friendly, generous, and considerate. Our theme verse this week is Colossians 3:12 (NLT): “Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” 

This verse tells us to clothe ourselves with lots of different character qualities. Have you ever thought about that? You can choose to put qualities like kindness on like you put on your clothes in the morning. Just like we pick out which shirt or pair of shoes we are going to wear, we can choose to be kind, humble, gentle, and patient throughout our day. Clothing ourselves with kindness is a powerful way to show God’s character to the world around us. The Bible also tells us in Romans 2:4 that God’s kindness is what leads us to Him in the first place. So pick up kindness and put it on like a jacket. Wear it everywhere you go!

Ring of Fire

Hey, it’s Tambika! If you’ve completed all of the missions I’ve given you, I’ll give you some of my secret missions. It’s time to thank you for being such a great Lightglider! The first bonus mission is Ring of Fire. We’ve received info that there is Machine activity in the Volcano area, and we need you to help scout it out! Watch out, though--there could be a trap!

When Machines are destroyed, they sometimes leave behind Materials and Gliddles they’ve stolen from the Yonders! The Gliddles will wait for you to rescue them, but the Materials will disappear after a short time. Once you’ve defeated a Machine, try to get to their rewards quickly! Clear blight, defeat other nearby Machines, and solve puzzles to get to Materials fast!

Make sure you have a strategy to battle the Machines. Try to target Machines that are on their own first, and work in one direction at a time. You’ll maximize your Materials and minimize your bruises!

Creativity

Hey Lightglider!

The last two weeks we have learned about how God is our Creator. Because He created us, we have tremendous purpose. We can know that our lives matter because they do! If God took the time to make you, then you are extremely valuable. We also learned that God created us in His image. Because you are made in the image of a powerful, good, and creative God, you have the power to create good things. What good things are you inspired to create today?

Think of ways to use your unique gifts to put a smile on other people’s faces. Dream of ways to make an impact. Live with passion. Pursue beauty. Use your imagination. Do everything you do with excellence.

If you go into the Academy this week, use creativity to design an awesome treehouse. Use imagination to encourage others with every postcard you send out. Inspire others to play games together.  

Be creative today. In doing so, you will reflect your Creator.

Emerald Fields

Hello, I’m Nisha! I serve in a lot of places at Lightglider Academy, but I mostly try to help the other leaders handle the blight problem in the Yonders. And this mission is all about restoring the land! The Emerald Fields in the Yonders are usually so beautiful, but they’ve been taken over by blight. My tip for you is to open up enough room in the blight so that you can dodge Machine attacks. The Emerald Fields are home to many green Gliddles, and to use their power correctly, you’ll have to get up close to Machines! Patience is the key to defeating Machines and clearing blight. Remember, if you run out of RES, come back to Lightglider Academy and give out Boosts to recharge! 

I’ve heard that there’s a Machine that’s very hard to get to… Maybe the fences in this area don’t extend the whole way around the Fields?

AUGUST 9 - AUGUST 15

Respect

Hey Lightgliders!

Last week we learned that we are all created in God’s image! Because you bear God’s image, you are worthy of respect. And this is true of everyone you meet! That’s why the #1 goal of a Lightglider is respect - respect for ourselves and respect for others. We seek to do this because when you respect yourself and you respect others, you are honoring the One in whose image you were created!

So how do we do that? We show respect in the way we treat others. We seek to care about everyone we meet. We also seek to care for our minds, hearts, and bodies. 

Whether it’s your best friend or someone you don’t get along with very well, choosing to show respect is what Lightgliders strive to do. So, when you’re in Mission Control, the Courtyard, the Library, or the Innovation Lab, look for ways to show respect to the other Lightgliders.

Flash Bold Champion is a great friend to many! He likes to encourage others and also likes to help whenever someone has a question. Such a bright light!

Tambika’s Treehouse

Lightglider! It’s Tambika, and I need your help! My Treehouse was just attacked and it’s covered in blight! Can you help me restore it all? 

Luckily, I had stored a ton of RES orbs before the attack. Just open up some of the safe areas to recharge your RES! Help rescue the Gliddles and relocate them to a safer Treehouse while we restore mine!

Creation

Hey Lightglider!

We are starting a brand new unit this week on CREATION. Understanding that we were created by God will deeply impact how we live our lives.  We will learn some of the many ways this is true in the coming weeks!

Did you know that the Bible begins by telling us that God is the Creator. The very first verse of Genesis tells us this! He created the world and everything in it. And Genesis 1:27 tells us that God created us in His image. You and I were made in the image of a good, holy, and loving God.

Do you realize what this means? It means that your life matters! It means that your life is valuable! It means that you are capable of extraordinary things! This is true of you and everyone you meet.

It is important to know that our lives are not an accident. We were intentionally made by God and for God.

Cave In

Hey Lightgliders, Tambika here! I have a new bonus mission to give to you! We’ve received word of a Cave In inside the Volcano, and we need to chart a new path through the blight that’s built up in there. But there are many powerful Machines inside! With your defense system jammed, you won’t be able to fight back! Luckily, they are trapped in the blight.

If you can create a path through the blight that doesn’t let the Machines escape, you can beat this mission! Plot your course carefully and you’ll come out on top! You may be thinking,  “Vol-ca-no!” But, I say “Vol-ca-YES!” You can do it!

Have you completed some of the secondary objectives? Doing so earns you extra Materials! Can you clear 100 blight in this mission? Choose what blight to clear carefully, though--those Machines are ready for any mistake!

FAITHFULNESS

Hey Lightgliders!

We’ve been talking quite a bit about the character qualities that our Lightglider leaders display in their lives! We can look up to them and imitate the unique ways they lead, serve, and seek out God’s wisdom! Now you get to take a look at YOURSELF! One of the biggest character qualities you can grow in is faithfulness. The word “faithful” means to be true to one’s word and promises. God is the greatest example of faithfulness. He has been, and will always be, fully faithful to His promises that we read in the Bible.

Because He is faithful, you too are called to be faithful. When you tell someone you are going to do something, follow through on that. When you are created with unique gifts, you can be faithful to exercise those gifts for God’s glory. As you continue to be faithful, God’s character will be on display through you! Can you think of examples of faithfulness? 

Here are a few that I thought of for when I am in Lightglider Academy:

• Taking care of and decorating my Treehouse so that the Gliddles have a beautiful place to live

• Using Boosts on other Lightgliders to help them on their Yonders missions

• Partnering with the Gliddles to battle the Machines more effectively

And here are a few for when I am in my home:

• Doing what my parents ask of me

• Taking my studies seriously

• Using my words to encourage others

• Taking time to pray to the One who is faithful to me

When we are faithful, we are shining!

Neglected Institute

Bryce here! I’ve pinpointed the location of an abandoned Institute. It’s full of Machines that we have to battle, as well as Gliddles we need to rescue! 

Be careful roaming those halls--our sensors show that there are giant Machines inside. Team up with Gliddles and battle hard! Remember, if a Gliddle gets tired, the next Gliddle will take its place as your battle partner. Right-click to switch Gliddles on the fly. Maybe you want to conserve a Gliddle’s energy, or maybe you’ll want to use the right Gliddle for the job!

There seems to be an interconnected door system in the Institute. Unlocking one door will unlock many others! Be on the lookout for door switches and out-of-place grates!

Joy

Hey Lightgliders! 

How do you make an octopus laugh?  With ten-tickles! 

If you thought that joke was funny, then please know that it was mine. If you didn’t, then it was Marlon’s!

Hey everybody! I am Santiago! I try to bring life to the Lightglider Academy party! I cannot tell you HOW MUCH FUN it is to be alive today. And I cannot tell you how great it is to be a Lightglider. You know what our goals are, right? RESPECT. RESCUE. RESTORE.

I believe that to RESTORE includes bringing joy to people who need it. Sometimes through laughter. Sometimes through music. Sometimes through just hanging out and being friendly. Everyone is totally unique, so it can be difficult to know what will bring joy to another. I make it my goal to find out. Do you know what brings you joy? I would love to know!

I grew up in Honduras in a large house with a bunch of other boys. None of us were related but they are my brothers. We’ve been through a lot together. Do you know what brings me joy? People. Having people to talk to, hang out with, and care for is the greatest. I hope you find that here at Lightglider Academy. 

Ok, one more joke. Did you hear about the famous pickle? He was a big dill!

Ah, pickle jokes. I relish these opportunities.

Bible Code Breaker

Marlon here! Part of my job at Lightglider Academy is to unlock the secrets of the Far Greater Story. You can help me uncover the hidden messages from the Bible by solving the code! My advice is to start small. Figuring out small words like “the,” “and,” “I,” “a,” and “an” will help you on the larger words. Remember, the code is always different from puzzle to puzzle!

Hey Lightgliders! 

My name is Tova. I was one of the first leaders here at Lightglider Academy. Why? I saw the Gliddles in trouble and I wanted to help. My heart was burdened and I had to come. It really didn’t take a lot of thought or planning. Before I knew it, Bryce sent me on a mission to the Yonders.  

I was born and raised in the United Kingdom. Growing up, I always enjoyed meeting new people and striking up conversations. I realized that many people are hurting, so I made it my mission to be a source of healing and encouragement. I care deeply for the poor, for orphans, and for those who are lonely. Who do you care deeply for?

I like to think of each day as a new opportunity for a purposeful adventure. You never know what new friend or significant moment awaits you! So be on the lookout, and care for those you encounter.

Timberlands Treetops

Hey, Lightglider! It’s Bryce. Our next mission is to head back to the Timberlands and explore the treetops! There are lots of dangerous Machines up there, but I know you’ll battle them with ease!

A great tactic to deal with faster Machines is to “kite!” When a Machine charges you, start slowly backing away, firing behind you as you go. The Machine will try to chase you, but they won’t be able to catch you. It’s like you’re stringing along a kite behind you!

Use this tactic on many of the smaller Machines. You’ll come out on top! Glide on!

Wisdom

Hey Lightgliders! 

My name is Marlon. You’ll usually find me hanging out in the Library at Lightglider Academy. I am from the United States and I love doing two things - reading books and working out. It’s important to exercise the mind and the body. I am often considered the more “brainy” of the Academy leaders. I investigate any new idea before believing it or acting on it. That’s why I was the last to join the Academy leaders. I had to make sure that rescuing Gliddles and clearing blight were the right things to do. Usually when we are thinking of others before ourselves, it is the right thing to do. But I had to make sure that the consequences of these actions were good, and not just their intention.  

I am passionate about discovering truth. We are in a world filled with many ideas competing for our attention. Ideas are either helpful or hurtful to others, ourselves, or the world around us. My dream for you is that you learn to tell the difference between a good idea and a bad one. This understanding is where wisdom is found. 

I encourage all Lightgliders--search hard for truth. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. And focus on the most important questions, the ones that have the greatest impact on your life and the world around you. Two thousand years ago a man named Jesus claimed to be God and said that whoever believes in him would receive eternal life. People believed him at the time and still do to this day. I encourage you to investigate the truth about Jesus. In Matthew 16:15, Jesus asks the most important question ever. He says, “Who do you say that I am?” Take time to answer this question. After I investigated Jesus, I found the key to wisdom.
