PEACE

Hey Lightgliders!

We have recently been looking at the final chapter of The Far Greater Story known as Restoration. We have learned that Jesus will come back one day and restore all that is broken. Because we have this hope for tomorrow, we can live with peace today. When you have peace, your mind is calm and your heart is not troubled. Peace comes from trusting in Jesus, who promises us a bright future with Him.

Is your mind and heart experiencing peace today? If not, talk to Jesus and ask Him to comfort you. He loves you more than you could possibly imagine. When you realize this, you will know peace and joy. You might even burst out into songs, as our theme verse this week says!

Let’s sing some songs of praise in Lightglider Academy this week!

• Read Psalm 28:7 in the Bible. Use this verse as a guide for prayer. Thank the Lord for being your strength and shield. Confess your trust in Him. Ask Him to give you great joy and thankfulness!

• How can you spread peace to others through thankfulness?

Amber Awesome Artist wrote a lovely song about everyone shining their light for God's kingdom with her friends in Lightgliders and performed it during the Costumes and Candy Party. Way to sing excellent praise, Amber!

Bunker Brawl

Hey, it’s Bryce! I have another bonus mission to give you, and it’s a tough one! There is a Machine spawner in the bunker below the lake in the Yonders, and we need you to stop it! 

This battle will put all your gliding skills to the test! Weave around Machine attacks, use the Gliddles to help you battle, and come out on top! Make sure to grab the health packs if you’ve been hit a few times. It will replenish your armor so you can get back into the fray! Don’t grab more than you can hold, though! Once a chunk of your armor is lost, it’s gone!

We believe in you, Lightglider! You’ll do great!

We’ve heard that there’s a final Machine filled with smaller Machines! Can you reach it?

Restore

Hey Lightgliders!

As a Lightglider, you are sent on missions from Lightglider Academy to restore the land of Glideon. To restore means to bring something back to the way it was meant to be. Glideon was not meant to be covered in this dark mysterious substance that we call blight. No, it was meant to be beautiful and full of purpose. When you clear the blight, you are bringing Glideon back to what it was intended to be!

The Scriptures tell us that one day God will fully restore this broken world. This is a day that we all can look forward to with hope. In the meantime, Lightgliders seek to restore the beauty, purpose, joy, and dignity of this world and everyone in it. In doing so, we serve as signposts of what is to come. A signpost is like a great big billboard telling everyone who passes by what they can look forward to. When we carry out deeds of compassion and justice, we give the world a glimpse of what is to come. God’s light shines through us to give the world hope.

Machine Bunker

Hey there! My name’s Bryce, and I’m the head of missions here at Lightglider Academy. I love to save Gliddles from the Machines, so my mission for you is to take on the Machines where it’ll hurt them most! We’ve discovered the location of a Machine Bunker, where Machines are made and sent out into the Yonders. We need to shut this factory down! 

There are lots of Machines in there, so stay alert! Remember, your defense systems can fire automatically, so concentrate on dodging enemy attacks while you battle Machines. Some Machines are programmed to guard doors and hallways. They have lots of armor, but they’re very slow. Stop at a safe distance and you’ll whittle them down!

Go get ‘em!  I’ll be rooting for you!

OCTOBER 18 - OCTOBER 24

RESTORATION

Hey Lightgliders!

We’ve been looking at the Far Greater Story over the last few weeks. We’ve learned about Creation, Rebellion, and Redemption. Now it’s time for the final act--Restoration! Every good story has a BIG ending. Well, the Far Greater Story has the BIGGEST ending that actually leads to a new beginning. This is the one part of the Far Greater Story that we have yet to experience fully. It will happen some time in the future, and we can look forward to it with great anticipation!

To restore something means to bring it back to its original condition. This is what God will do with our broken world when Jesus comes back. God has redeemed His children through Jesus, but we still experience the consequences of sin and rebellion in our world today. Jesus has promised us that He will return and make right all that has gone wrong. This is what “Restoration” is all about. Scripture tells us that there will be no more pain, or crying, or suffering for those who have placed their faith in Jesus. 

Until that day comes, we can work to restore the world around us in small ways. Every word of truth that we speak and every act of love that we do in His name points to this future restoration. When we shine light in the darkness, we are a signpost of what is to come.

Timberlands Approach

Hey, it’s Bryce! Are you ready to take on the Machines once again? We’re sending you to the Timberlands Approach, an area infested with Machines! Rescue the Gliddles there and get ready to battle!

Watch out for Machine attacks, especially from the blue Machines! Their blasts are very powerful. If you get hit too much, you’ll lose a chunk of armor and have to start back at the last checkpoint!

Be careful out there, and remember to keep an eye out for secret grates!

Hey Lightgliders!

When we trust and believe in Jesus, we become a part of God’s family, which is a worldwide community of people who follow Him. As a part of this faith community, we all offer something unique. God has made each one of us with special gifts, talents, and passions to shine His light throughout the world.

When we gather together with others in our community of faith, we have opportunities to learn about God, encourage each other, pray together, understand the Scriptures, and experience Jesus. When we do this, God is glorified and we are strengthened!

COURAGE

Hey Lightgliders!

How is your new school year going? We have been discussing The Far Greater Story of God’s love for us in recent weeks. We are currently learning about redemption and how God bought back our lives with the blood of Jesus. As we understand this truth, and recognize that we have been rescued, we can point others to the story of Jesus with great courage!

To be courageous is to be brave. To take risks. To initiate. To try new things. To do hard things. To not be afraid of failing. We can be courageous because our confidence comes from God’s love for us, and not from anything else! 

As Lightgliders, we will not shrink back from difficulties or danger. We will not run away from opportunities to help those in need. 

Be courageous today, Lightgliders! Remember that you are never alone. Nothing can separate you from God’s love.

The Candybot Cometh

Hey, it’s Bryce again! I have another bonus mission for you. It’s the most dangerous mission yet, so please be careful! There is a very powerful Machine in an abandoned building in the Yonders. Its electromagnetic field is interfering with the auto-defense systems in our armor. We can’t battle this Machine!

Knowing when and where to move is the key to getting through this battle. This Machine (nicknamed “The Candybot” by some Lightgliders) has a very robust defense system, but it won’t activate if you aren’t in the same room as it. Use quick tactics to swoop into the room, grab the Gliddles trapped there, and then get out of there!

Can you clear the blight surrounding the Candybot and grab the coins there? This will be a great test of skills!

SEPTEMBER 27 - OCTOBER 3

Rescue

Hey Lightgliders!

Last week we talked about the third part of the Far Greater Story - Redemption! Did you know that God is a rescuer? He will stop at nothing to rescue us. That’s what redemption is all about! God sent His Son Jesus to earth to rescue us from sin and death. Jesus lived the perfect life, a life that we are incapable of living. And, when Jesus died on the  cross, He paid the penalty of our sin. When He came back to life three days later, Jesus defeated death for us. Because of what He did, we can be forgiven and live in a relationship with God forever. This is the ultimate rescue!

As Lightgliders, we have the awesome responsibility of going on missions to rescue the Gliddles from danger. We put on armor, glide into the Yonders, and free them from the toxic blight and the control of the Machines. Rescuing others from dangerous situations requires courage and strength of character. Remember that!

If you’ve ever made a truly selfish decision or disobeyed God’s standards in any way, then you need to be rescued. The hard truth is that we all have done this. We all need to be rescued from our sin, which separates us from God, causes pain to others, and destroys our lives. 

Through Jesus, God rescues us from sin and death! And, as our theme verse tells us, through the power of the Holy Spirit we can point others to Jesus and pray that God rescues them!

Waterfall Cavern

Hello again! It’s Tambika, and I’m giving you a new mission in Waterfall Cavern, just underneath Waterfall Meadow. This cave seems to be where a lot of the blight is coming from, so we need to get in there and destroy the blight inside! Click on blight next to you to clear it. You can click and drag on multiple blight patches to restore them quickly! Blight usually covers treasures and Materials in the Yonders. Go ahead and grab them; you can trade them for cool stuff here at the Academy!

Clearing blight uses RES, the yellow bar to the left of your screen. If you run out, don’t worry. Just come back to the Academy and hang out. Your RES will recharge over time, and then you can go back to the mission where you last passed a checkpoint! Be on the lookout for RES orbs in the Yonders as well. Don’t grab the RES orbs if you’re already full on RES, or they’ll be wasted!

SEPTEMBER 20 - SEPTEMBER 26

REDEMPTION

 Hey Lightglider!

Continuing in The Far Greater Story, we have come to its climax, known as Redemption. To redeem something means to buy it back. Remember that God created everything and called it good. This is why there is dignity in everyone you meet. However, we have all rebelled against God’s standard of goodness. This is called sin. And, because of our sin, we are separated from God forever. Without this next part of the story, we are left without hope. 

But God, in His goodness, didn’t leave us hopeless! He sent His Son Jesus to redeem us. When Jesus died on the cross, He paid the penalty for our sin. He bought us back! He made a way for us to be restored to God and to live with Him forever! This is what it means to be redeemed. This is the heart of The Far Greater Story and the proof that God loves us.

Hello, it’s Nisha! Don’t you love helping others? There’s such a feeling of joy when  we serve and encourage others, and that includes when you give Boosts to people! You’ll find Boosts growing in your Treehouse. The color of each deck shows you what kind of Boost you’ll grow! Some of them are very strong, and they take a lot of time to grow. When you collect a Boost, it will show up at the top of your screen. You can go to the Courtyard and drag and drop them onto other Lightgliders to help them out in the Yonders!

If you are low on RES, giving other Lightgliders your Boosts will also recharge some of your RES!

If you are given a Boost, you can choose to use it in the Yonders and get an advantage:

• Yellow Boosts give you more RES to clear blight!

• Green Boosts speed you up, letting you dodge attacks with ease!

• Blue Boosts let you carry more Gliddles at a time!

• Purple Boosts make your armor super strong - you’ll take less damage!

• Red Boosts beef up your defense system, making your blasts more powerful!

Now go give some Boosts to other Lightgliders!

Honesty

Hey Lightglider!

Oomph. I just got back from the Yonders and it was rough! I barely escaped without getting covered in blight. We’re talking about honesty this week in Lightgliders, so I guess I need to practice it myself. Sometimes it’s hard for me to admit that I can get discouraged, but to be honest means to be truthful. I’m here to tell you today to be honest with yourself. Pay attention to your feelings and be honest about them with God and with those who love you. God knows exactly how you are feeling, so you can always be honest with Him in your prayers.  

Also, be honest with others. Have you ever told a lie to make yourself look good or to avoid getting into trouble? You might be tempted to protect yourself in this way rather than to be honest and accept a consequence. Here’s the honest truth about me right now -- I want you to think I’m a skilled Lightglider, but that is not always true. I was unable to complete my last mission to the Yonders. I’m going to talk to Nisha to get her advice on how to do it. With her insight, I hope to succeed next time. Wow, I’m realizing even as I write this to you that honesty and humility are connected.

Being honest honors God and shows others that we can be trusted. Speak the truth, Lightglider. Refuse to lie. In doing so, you are showing the character of Christ.

Waterfall Meadow

Hi, Lightglider! My name is Tambika, and I handle administration here at Lightglider Academy. I’m ready to send you on your first official mission: going to Waterfall Meadow! You’ll learn the basics of gliding, battling, and rescuing there. Here’s a couple of tips to help you out: 

1. Use your mouse to glide around. Remember to keep your cursor on the game screen at all times to maximize your movements!
2. When rescuing Gliddles, you can carry up to five at a time. To rescue more Gliddles, drop the ones you have off at a Zipway to send them back to the Academy, and then go find more Gliddles!

3. Remember to keep your distance when battling Machines! Stay close enough so that your defense system will activate, but far enough away so that you can dodge Machine attacks!

There are plenty of treasures and secrets in the Yonders. Keep your eyes peeled for things that don’t seem to belong in their surroundings! Hope to see you back in the Courtyard soon!

Forgiveness

Hey Lightglider!

We have been learning about The Far Greater Story in recent weeks. This is the most important story ever. It is the true story of God’s love for us! 

We talked about how God is good and has created all things good. However, we have rebelled against Him and His standard for goodness. This is called sin. It causes destruction in the world and it separates us from God. It is the reason the world has so many problems. 

Once we recognize that we have rebelled against God, we have the opportunity to repent. To repent means to turn away from sin and turn to God, and it requires humility. The Bible tells us to repent of our sins so that they may be wiped away. When God wipes away our sin, that is an act that we call forgiveness. 

Do you remember last week’s verse of the week? If we confess our sin, God is faithful to forgive us! God forgives us of our sin and puts us in a right relationship with Him. With God’s forgiveness, we are free from the penalty of our sin. And when we understand that God is willing to forgive us even when we don’t deserve it, we can forgive others as well!

Knowing that God is willing to forgive you, who do you need to forgive this week?

Guard Dogs

Bryce here! I have a special mission for you. There are small groups of Machines that are patrolling the Yonders. I need you to help battle them! It looks like they aren’t too difficult to defeat, but their Materials disappear quickly!

Slow and steady wins the race with these Machines. Try to battle the smaller guard Machines first, since their Materials last longer than the pink Machines!

Using a Pink Gliddle to soften the Machine’s armor and then using an Orange Gliddle to slow them down is a strong tactic. Make sure to stay clear of the yellow Machines, but rush the pink ones!

AUGUST 30 - SEPTEMBER 5

Rebellion

Hey Lightglider!

We’ve just spent a few weeks learning about Creation. To understand Creation is to understand that God created everything, and that includes you and me! And because He created us in His image, our lives have purpose and tremendous value. This is the first part of the Far Greater Story of God’s love for us revealed in the Bible. 

The second part of the story is called Rebellion. A rebellion is an open resistance to an authority. As our Creator, God is our authority. To rebel against Him is to disobey His commands. This is called “sin.” We sin when we do not live up to God’s standard of goodness and love. Whether we sin on purpose or by accident, we are rebelling against God and are violating our purpose. This happens a lot by you and by everyone else. We all have rebelled against God and His goodness. And the Bible tells us that the penalty of this rebellion is death. 

This is why we need to be rescued. The penalty for our rebellion needs to be paid. Our sin needs to be forgiven. Until we understand this, the good news of Jesus will never make any sense to us.  

Pray this week for help to recognize the ways in which you have rebelled against God and for the courage to confess them to Him. Then read this week’s theme verse -- I John 1:8-9!
