Hey Lightglider!

Continuing in the Far Greater Story, we have come to its climax, known as Redemption. To redeem something means to buy it back. Remember that God created everything and called it good. This is why there is dignity in everyone you meet. However, we have all rebelled against God’s goodness and love. This is called sin. And, because of sin, the world is full of pain, brokenness, and death. Without this next part of the story, we are left without hope.

God, in His goodness, has not left us hopeless! He sent His Son Jesus to redeem us. Jesus died for our sin and bought us back! He made a way for us to be restored to God and to live with Him forever! This is what it means to be redeemed. This is the heart of The Far Greater Story and the proof that God loves us.

Tambika here, with another mission for you! This time you’ll be clearing the blight and rescuing the Gliddles near the River. After your success in the Waterfall area, I’m sure you’ll do great!

Hey Lightglider!

Oomph. I just got back from the Yonders and it was rough! I barely escaped without getting covered in blight. We’re talking about honesty this week in Lightgliders, so I guess I need to practice it myself. Sometimes it’s hard for me to admit that I can get really discouraged, but to be honest means to be truthful. I’m here to tell you today to be honest with yourself. Pay attention to your feelings and be honest about them with God and with those who love you. God knows exactly how you are feeling, so you can always be honest with Him in your prayers.  

‍

Also, be honest with others. Have you ever told a lie to make yourself look good or to avoid getting into trouble? You might be tempted to protect yourself in this way rather than to be honest and accept a consequence. Here’s the honest truth about me right now -- I want you to think I’m a skilled Lightglider, but that is not always true. I have failed many times out there in the Yonders. In fact, I was unable to complete my last mission. I’m going to talk to Nisha to get her advice on how to do it. With her insight, I hope to succeed next time. Wow, I’m realizing even as I write this to you that honesty and humility are connected.

Being honest honors God and shows others that we can be trusted. Speak the truth, Lightglider. Refuse to lie. In doing so, you are showing the character of Christ.

• Ask for help when you need it! Just like Bryce went to Nisha for advice, practice honesty by admitting when you don’t know something or when you’re struggling. It’s a humble way to grow and get stronger!

Hey Lightglider!

‍

We have been learning about the Far Greater Story in recent weeks. This is the most important story ever. It is the true story of God’s love for us! 

‍

We talked about how God is good and how He called all that he has created “good”. However, we have rebelled against Him and have chosen at times not to live in accordance with His love and truth. This is called sin. It causes destruction in the world and is the reason the world has so many problems. 

‍

Once we recognize that we have sinned, we have the opportunity to repent. To repent means to turn away from sin and turn to God, and this requires humility. The Bible tells us to repent of our sins so that they may be wiped away. When God wipes away our sin, that is an act that we call forgiveness. 

‍

If we confess our sin, God is faithful to forgive us! God forgives us of our sin and restores harmony in our relationship with Him. And when we understand that God is willing to forgive us when we don’t deserve it, we can forgive others as well!

Knowing that God is willing to forgive you, who do you need to be willing to forgive? Think about that this week!

Emerald Fields

Hello, I’m Nisha! I serve in a lot of places at Lightglider Academy, but I mostly try to help the other leaders handle the blight problem in the Yonders. And this mission is all about restoring the land! The Emerald Fields in the Yonders are usually so beautiful, but they’ve been taken over by blight. My tip for you is to open up enough room in the blight so that you can dodge Machine attacks. The Emerald Fields are home to many green Gliddles, and to use their power correctly, you’ll have to get up close to Machines! Patience is the key to defeating Machines and clearing blight. Remember, if you run out of RES, come back to Lightglider Academy and give out Boosts to recharge!

I’ve heard that there’s a Machine that’s very hard to get to… Maybe the fences in this area don’t extend the whole way around the Fields?

Hey Lightgliders!

This week we are discussing the Lightglider value of humility. We learned last week about rebellion - how we have all rebelled against God and have fallen short of His standard for goodness and love. Even though we are created to shine like stars in the universe, we must understand that we are far from perfect. The sin and selfishness that began in the Garden of Eden carries on today in every human heart. It causes division, brokenness, and strife in ourselves and in the world around us. Admitting our need for God’s love and forgiveness requires humility. To live with humility means to acknowledge that we are weak and need to be rescued. We cannot depend on our own talents, accomplishments, or even our good behavior. These things will fail us and will never be able to forgive our sin. We have to depend on God and His power to save us through Jesus. Only with humble hearts is this even possible. As we live with humility, we are able to take our focus off ourselves, receive God’s love, and truly focus on the needs of others.

‍

When you go on enough Yonders missions, you will be ready for one filled with puzzles. One of these is called “Keep Out!” That’s a good name for it because those who are proud or unwilling to fail should keep out. To complete it, you will need humility. Stay focused on your missions to the Yonders. You will fail at some. You will succeed at some. But, in everything including Yonders missions, stay humble!

Purple Mountain

It’s Nisha again, and I have a new mission for you. Purple Mountain is infested with Machines and blight, and it’s up to you to restore the mountain to its original majesty! 

Some Machines are trapped in the blight themselves! It’s easier to battle them while they can’t move around, so wait to clear the blight until after the Machines are defeated. Remember to clear blight before you grab the extra RES they drop! If most of your Gliddles get tired, bring them to a Zipway so that they can come to Lightglider Academy and rest.

Our scouts say that Purple Mountain is full of secret areas! Some of them lead to even more powerful Machines and many treasures, so stay alert and look out for open doors, grates, and fences!

Hey Lightglider!

‍

We’ve just spent a few weeks learning about Creation. To understand Creation is to understand that God created everything, and that includes you and me! And because He created us in His image, we have dignity, purpose, and tremendous value. This is the first part of the Far Greater Story of God’s love for us revealed in the Bible and it explains how we got here. 

‍

The second part of the story is called Rebellion. This explains what went wrong in our broken world. A rebellion is an open resistance to an authority. As our Creator, God is our authority. To rebel against Him is to disobey His commands. This is called “sin.” We sin when we miss the mark of God’s standard of goodness and love. Whether we sin on purpose or by accident, we are rebelling against God and are violating our purpose. The Bible shares how this first happened in Genesis 3. But, it has also happened a lot by me, you, and everyone else. We all have rebelled against God. And the Bible tells us that the consequences of sin is death. 

‍

This is why we need to be rescued. We need our sin to be forgiven, our lives to be transformed, and our world to be transformed. Until we understand this, the good news of Jesus will not make sense to us.  

‍

Pray this week for help to recognize the ways in which you have rebelled against God and pray for the courage to confess these things to Him. Then read this week’s theme verse -- I John 1:8-9. It is good news!

Timberlands Treetops

Hey, Lightglider! It’s Bryce. Our next mission is to head back to the Timberlands and explore the treetops! There are lots of dangerous Machines up there, but I know you’ll battle them with ease!

A great tactic to deal with faster Machines is to “kite!” When a Machine charges you, start slowly backing away, firing behind you as you go. The Machine will try to chase you, but they won’t be able to catch you. It’s like you’re stringing along a kite behind you!

Use this tactic on many of the smaller Machines. You’ll come out on top!

Hey Lightglider!

The last three weeks we have learned about Chapter 1 of the Far Greater Story – Creation. God is our Creator. And, because He created us, we have tremendous purpose. If God took the time to make us in His image, then we are extremely valuable. Because you are made in the image of a powerful, good, and creative God, you have the ability to be creative yourself. That’s why we are discussing “Creativity” this week. You were creatively created by a creative Creator. Therefore, what good things are you inspired to create today?

‍

Think of ways to use your unique gifts to put a smile on other people’s faces. Dream of ways to make an impact. Live with passion. Pursue beauty. Use your imagination. Be inspired. Create art and music. Come up with new ideas and innovations to help the world around you. 

‍

If you go into the Academy this week, use creativity to design an awesome treehouse. Use imagination to encourage others with every postcard you send out. Inspire others to play games together.  

‍

Be creative today. In doing so, you will reflect your Creator.

River Rapids

Hello! It’s Nisha. I have a bonus mission for you, along the river in the Yonders! It looks like there are lots of Machines down there, but they all seem...tiny. You’ll have to look out for these teensy Machines, they’ll try to bite you! Keep your distance from them!

Your armor defense system has a long range and can stun Machines for a short time, but it isn’t very powerful. Try grabbing a blue Gliddle to deal with the Machines on either shore. Blue Gliddles are slow to fire, but they have a long range and deal a ton of damage!

Grab all the coins and you will finish this mission!

Hey Lightgliders!

As we continue exploring Creation, Chapter 1 of the Far Greater Story, we are taking a look this week at “RESPECT.” Because you were created in God’s image, you have dignity and purpose. Therefore, you are worthy of respect. And this is also true of everyone you meet! That’s why the #1 goal of a Lightglider is respect - respect for ourselves and respect for others. We pursue this goal because when you respect yourself and those around you, you are honoring the One in whose image you were created!

‍

So how do we do that? We show respect in the way we treat others and in the way that we treat ourselves. Are we showing care to those around us? Are we showing care to ourselves – to our own minds, hearts, and bodies?

‍

Whether it’s your best friend or someone you don’t get along with very well, choosing to show respect is what Lightgliders strive to do. So, when you’re in Mission Control, the Track, or the Yonders, look for ways to show respect to the other Lightgliders.

Purple Mountain

It’s Nisha again, and I have a new mission for you. Purple Mountain is infested with Machines and blight, and it’s up to you to restore the mountain to its original majesty! 

Some Machines are trapped in the blight themselves! It’s easier to battle them while they can’t move around, so wait to clear the blight until after the Machines are defeated. Remember to clear blight before you grab the extra RES they drop! If most of your Gliddles get tired, bring them to a Zipway so that they can come to Lightglider Academy and rest.

Our scouts say that Purple Mountain is full of secret areas! Some of them lead to even more powerful Machines and many treasures, so stay alert and look out for open doors, grates, and fences!

As Lightgliders, we believe that our lives are both valuable and meaningful because God made us in His image. Our lives have worth and dignity that no one can take away. If the Creator of the universe took time to create you, then guess what–you are here for a reason! To live with purpose means to live every day with this strong belief.

In Lightglider Academy, we rescue Gliddles, clear the blight, and try to help others any way we can. Look around you. The world is in need and you were uniquely created to make a difference! Each day provides us a new opportunity to live an adventure filled with purpose!

Timberlands Treetops

Hey, Lightglider! It’s Bryce. Our next mission is to head back to the Timberlands and explore the treetops! There are lots of dangerous Machines up there, but I know you’ll battle them with ease!

A great tactic to deal with faster Machines is to “kite!” When a Machine charges you, start slowly backing away, firing behind you as you go. The Machine will try to chase you, but they won’t be able to catch you. It’s like you’re stringing along a kite behind you!

Use this tactic on many of the smaller Machines. You’ll come out on top! Glide on!

Hello there Lightglider!

We are beginning a deep-dive into the Far Greater Story, the true story of God’s love for us. This story has four overarching chapters – Creation, Rebellion, Redemption, and Restoration. Understanding this story can greatly impact our lives, including our sense of purpose and hope for the future. Over the next few weeks, we are looking at chapter 1 of the story – Creation.

Did you know that the Bible begins by telling us that God is the Creator? The very first verse of Genesis tells us this! He created the heavens, the earth, the animals, and human beings. And He called all that He created good. And Genesis 1:27 tells us that God created us in His image. You were made in the image of a good, holy, and loving God.

‍

Do you realize what this means? It means that you are extraordinary. Your life matters. You are extremely valuable and capable of great things! Did you know that?

‍

Because you bear God’s image, you have incredible dignity that is worthy of respect. And, in the same way a mirror reflects your image back to you, you have the opportunity to reflect God’s image to the world. You are a light made to shine!

Blighted Grassland

It’s Tambika, calling on you again to take on a new mission! We’re sending you into the Grasslands, a sprawling area that’s filled with blight and Machines. Keep your wits about you and be on the lookout for secret areas! And check out that cool speedboat in the water; who do you think brought that to the Grassland?

We’ve picked up several hidden areas with our sensors. Look for these around fences, grates, and doors and you might find a ton of treasures!

Bible Code Breaker

Marlon here! Part of my job at Lightglider Academy is to unlock the secrets of the Far Greater Story. You can help me uncover the hidden messages from the Bible by solving the code! My advice is to start small. Figuring out small words like “the,” “and,” “I,” “a,” and “an” will help you on the larger words. Remember, the code is always different from puzzle to puzzle!
