Hey Lightgliders!

‍

If you are new around here, we - the other Lightglider leaders and me - want you to know that you were MADE TO SHINE! That is something you will hear a lot because we need to be reminded of it regularly. Let me tell you what this means.

• God created you unique and special. There is no one in the history of the world like you. No one else has your exact personality, interests, and talents. In other words, you were made. 

• You have opportunities every day to use your uniqueness to love God and to love others in ways that only you can. When you do this, you shine.

• When you put these two ideas together, it is easy to see that you were made to shine! 

‍

And this is what we Lightgliders seek to do. With a lot of darkness in the world, this can feel like a big responsibility. But like a candle in a dark tunnel, even the smallest light can be blinding. If you’ve been to Machine Bunker in the Yonders, you know what I mean!

‍

Jesus is the true light of the world. He is the light that the darkness can never extinguish. As we follow Him, we will shine like stars in the heavens and make an impact on the world. Let’s reflect His love and light everywhere we go!

Here are some activities for you to do and questions to reflect upon this week in Lightgliders. Do these by yourself or with a family member!

• What does it mean to live in God’s light and to share it with the world?

• Invite someone new to play! Whether you’re at the pool, a park, or summer camp, look for someone who may be feeling left out and invite them to join in! Including others is one of the best ways to reflect God’s love and to show that everyone matters.

• Start each day with prayer! Before the fun begins, take a moment each morning to pray - by yourself or with your family! Ask God to help you shine by being kind, brave, and loving in all you do!

• Do a secret act of kindness! Pick one day each week for the rest of the summer to do something kind for someone else! Write an encouraging note, help with chores, or leave a treat for a neighbor. Small acts of kindness make a big difference!

Tambika’s Treehouse

Lightglider! It’s Tambika, and I need your help! My Treehouse was just attacked and it’s covered in blight! Can you help me restore it all? 

Luckily, I had stored a ton of RES orbs before the attack. Just open up some of the safe areas to recharge your RES! Help rescue the Gliddles and relocate them to a safer Treehouse while we restore mine!

Hey there, Lightgliders! I’m Kwan and it’s my job to make sure you’re outfitted, trained, and ready for action. We have learned over the last few months that the Lightglider goals, values, mission, and leaders all seek to point to the Far Greater Story of God's love for us revealed in the Bible. As we grow as Lightgliders, we will shine light in the darkness, impact the world around us, and point others to the Far Greater Story!

‍

This week we are reminding our amazing community just what it means to be a Lightglider! So, whether you are new to Lightgliders or have been in the Academy for a while, I encourage you to pay close attention.  

‍

Lightgliders are defenders of good. We are a team that helps out those in need. And, right now, the land of Glideon needs us! For unknown reasons, a mysterious gooey substance called blight is spreading all over the land. At the same time, diabolical Machines have appeared and are kidnapping the Gliddles! It’s up to us to go on missions into the Yonders to clear away the blight and to rescue the Gliddles from the Machines!

‍

Being a Lightglider is a purposeful adventure. As you engage in all there is to do in the Academy and throughout the Yonders, you will have opportunities to learn about the greatest adventure there is–to know, grow in, and show God’s love. You were made to shine!

Glider Training

Hey Lightglider, it’s Bryce! We all know that hovering above the ground on your glider is a blast, but wouldn’t it be awesome to fly? I’m ready to train you to use the hover tech in our gliders to soar to new heights! Tap and hold to gain altitude, and release to descend! Managing the force of your glider as well as the incoming obstacles is the key to a good flight. Fly as long as possible to get the high score!

Hey Lightgliders!

We have talked about what it looks like to be a role model and to be faithful with how God has uniquely made us. So now we want to look at “impact,” which is the result of faithfulness. As you share God’s love with others in ways that only you can, you will have a great impact. God has created you with unique strengths and gifts! And, according to this week’s theme verse, He has planned good things for you to do with your life. These good things will impact the world in a positive way. I hope that as you go on missions, play games, or watch videos in Lightgliders, you discover what you are passionate about, what you are good at, and what gifts others see in you.  And as you continue to KNOW and GROW in God’s love, you will SHOW others that life with Him is an amazing adventure!

Think about the kind of impact you want to have on the world, and ask God to empower you to be and do everything He created you to be and to do.

• Ask God for guidance each day! Before breakfast, sports, or even playing a game, take a moment to pray: “God, help me make a difference today.” Asking God to guide your steps helps you stay focused on the good things He’s planned for you to do.

• Encourage others to be themselves! Sometimes, the greatest impact we have is helping others see their own worth. If you notice something awesome about a friend, sibling, or classmate—tell them! Your words might be exactly what they need to hear to keep going and growing.

• Use your strengths to serve others! Do you love helping, creating, organizing, or making people laugh? Look for ways to use those strengths each day—like helping a neighbor or sibling, making something encouraging for a friend, or bringing joy to someone who’s sad. Your impact starts with small, faithful actions!

Sludge Canyon

Hey, it’s Tambika! Your next mission takes you back to the swamps: it’s time to move to Sludge Canyon! These little islands are surrounded by swamp water, but they’re so covered with blight that you can barely move around! This mission will take a lot of RES to clear all the blight and rescue those Gliddles. When you run out of RES, just come back to the Academy and rest. Your RES will recharge and you can take on the blight again!

Have you noticed that there are different kinds of blight? The plain dark blight is easy enough to clear away, but the speckly and gnarly blight require more RES to clear! The more twisted a patch of blight is, the harder it will be to restore. But watch for the purple blight! It often grows on top of RES orbs. Clearing this blight can give you back more RES than you use!

Hey Lightgliders!

‍

We’ve been talking quite a bit about the character qualities that our Lightglider leaders display in their lives! We can look up to them and imitate the unique ways they lead, serve, and seek out God’s wisdom! Now you get to take a look at YOURSELF! One of the greatest character qualities for Lightgliders to grow in is faithfulness. The word “faithful” means to be true, steadfast, and loyal. As Lightgliders, we want to be faithful to God and to how He has uniquely made us.

‍

How has God made you unique? What gifts and talents do you have? What is your personality like? Be faithful to use these things for His glory! God is the greatest example of faithfulness. He has been, and will always be, faithful. Therefore, as you are faithful, God’s character will be on display through you!

‍

Can you think of examples of faithfulness? Here are a few that I thought of for when I am in Lightglider Academy:

• Taking care of and decorating my Treehouse so that the Gliddles have a beautiful place to live

• Partnering with the Gliddles to battle the Machines more effectively

• Sending Postcards to other Lightgliders to encourage them

• Sharing joy and wisdom at the events in the Academy each day

‍

And here are a few for when I am in my home:

• Following through on what I say I am going to do

• Honoring and obeying my parents

• Listening to my teachers and coaches

• Using my words to encourage others

• Taking time to pray to the One who is faithful to me

When we are faithful with what God has given us, we are shining!

• Keep your promises! Whether it's promising to clean your room, finish a project, or meet a friend at a certain time, being faithful means doing what you say you’ll do. This builds trust and shows others God’s character through your actions.

• Use your talents to help and encourage others! Are you good at drawing, singing, organizing, or encouraging? Faithfulness means using your God-given talents to serve others—like making a card for someone who’s sad or helping a sibling with chores around the house.

• Pray every day! Talking to God shows faithfulness to your relationship with Him. Whether it’s a quick prayer in the morning or thanking Him before bed, this daily habit helps you stay close to the One who is always faithful to you.

Entryway

Hi there! My name’s Kwan, and I handle technology at the Academy. I have a mission for you that requires some quick thinking! The Entryway to some sort of abandoned building has a ton of special switches and secrets, so explore every nook and cranny of this level! Rumor has it that there’s also some sort of giant Machine somewhere on the Entryway grounds!

Can you get into the first room of the building? There’s some sort of special switch that you have to find and press… maybe it’s in a hard-to-reach area? Or maybe it’s hidden in plain sight? You’ll have to go to find out!

Hey everybody, I am Santiago! I try to bring life to the Lightglider Academy party! I cannot tell you HOW MUCH FUN it is to be alive today. And I cannot tell you how great it is to be a Lightglider. 

‍

You know what the Lightglider goals are, right? RESPECT. RESCUE. RESTORE. I believe that to RESTORE includes bringing joy to people who need it. Sometimes through laughter. Sometimes through music. Sometimes through just hanging out and being friendly. Everyone is totally unique, so it can be difficult to know what will bring joy to another. I make it my goal to find out. Do you know what brings you joy? I would love to know!

I grew up in Honduras in a large house with a bunch of other boys. None of us were related but they are my brothers. We’ve been through a lot together. Do you know what brings me joy? People. Having people to talk to, hang out with, and care for is the greatest. I hope you find that here at Lightglider Academy.

• Tell a silly (but kind) joke to a friend or family member who seems down, or make a fun card for someone just because. Joy is contagious - spread it!

• Santiago finds joy in people and makes sure others feel included and cared for. Invite someone new to join your group or game, ask someone how their day is going, or give a compliment! Being friendly can turn someone’s whole day around.

• Notice what your friends love (like a favorite game or song) and surprise them with it! Maybe it’s sharing a snack, drawing a picture, or playing a favorite game together!

Dodge ‘Em Up

Hey, it’s Kwan! There’s a new mission into the Yonders, and we need you! We’ve discovered the location of another Machine factory. We need to shut it down and save the Gliddles that are in there!

Remember that different Machines have different weaknesses. The Gliddles you rescue have different powers to lend to you, so experiment with different Gliddles by right-clicking. If you see a [!] sign pop up from a Machine, you’ll know that the Gliddle power you’re using is dealing the Machine you’re fighting extra damage! Make sure to dodge the blue Machines’ attacks. They will stun you!

Also, be sure to check every nook and cranny for secrets! You never know what will be on the other side of a mysterious grate!

Hey Lightgliders! 

‍

My name is Tova. I was one of the first leaders here at Lightglider Academy. Why? Well, I saw the Gliddles in trouble and I wanted to help. My heart was burdened and I had to come. It really didn’t take a lot of thought or planning. Before I knew it, I was on a mission to the Yonders to rescue and restore.

‍

I was born and raised in the United Kingdom. Growing up, I always enjoyed meeting new people and striking up conversations. I realized that many people are hurting, so I made it my mission to be a source of healing and encouragement. I care deeply for the poor, for orphans, and for those who are lonely. Who do you care deeply for?

‍

Dodge ‘Em Up

Hey, it’s Kwan! There’s a new mission into the Yonders, and we need you! We’ve discovered the location of another Machine factory. We need to shut it down and save the Gliddles that are in there!

Remember that different Machines have different weaknesses. The Gliddles you rescue have different powers to lend to you, so experiment with different Gliddles by right-clicking. If you see a [!] sign pop up from a Machine, you’ll know that the Gliddle power you’re using is dealing the Machine you’re fighting extra damage! Make sure to dodge the blue Machines’ attacks. They will stun you!

Also, be sure to check every nook and cranny for secrets! You never know what will be on the other side of a mysterious grate!

Hey Lightgliders! 

‍

My name is Marlon. You’ll usually find me hanging out in the Library at Lightglider Academy. I am from the United States and I love doing two things - reading books and working out. It’s important to exercise the mind and the body. I am often considered the more “brainy” of the Academy leaders. I investigate any new idea before believing or acting upon it. That’s why I was one of the last to join the Academy leaders. I had to make sure that rescuing Gliddles and clearing blight were the right things to do. Usually when we are thinking of others before ourselves, it is the right thing to do. But I had to make sure that the consequences of these actions were good, and not just their intention.  

‍

I am passionate about discovering truth. We are in a world filled with many ideas competing for our attention. Ideas are either helpful or hurtful to others, ourselves, and the world around us. My hope for you and for Lightgliders everywhere is that we learn to tell the difference between a good idea and a bad one. This understanding is what wisdom is all about. 

‍

I encourage you to seek wisdom and truth. Don’t be afraid to ask questions in your search. And focus on the most important questions, the ones that have the greatest impact on your life and the world around you. Two thousand years ago a man named Jesus claimed to be God and said that whoever believes in him would receive eternal life. People believed him at the time and still do to this day. I encourage you to investigate if His claim is true. If it is, it impacts absolutely everything! Jesus once asked his followers “Who do you say that I am?” Take time to answer this question for yourself.

In my investigation, I found His claim to be true. I also discovered that seeking Him is the key to wisdom.

Hey Lightgliders!

My name is Nisha. I am one of the “quieter” Lightgliders. You may not notice me and I don’t mind that at all. You can make a powerful impact on the world without anyone even knowing your name!

‍

I was born and raised in India. Being the oldest of seven kids, I had a lot of responsibility with my brothers and sisters. They needed me to be consistent and caring. Do you have siblings? Having little brothers and sisters has taught me a lot about what it means to give without expecting much in return. I came to Lightglider Academy a bit nervous. There were so many big personalities and talented people here. Bryce is courageous. Tambika leads the Academy. Marlon is a genius. I didn’t know what I had to offer, so I just looked for ways to serve. I helped Bryce plan out Yonders missions in Mission Control. I assisted Kwan as he created new tech in the Innovation Lab. I worked with Tambika to organize new Treehouses for the Gliddles. One day Tova thanked me for doing the little things that seemed to go unnoticed. She said, “Nisha, you are effective at making others effective! You multiply the impact of those around you. And, for that, I say thank you!”

I have learned that little things make a big difference. It brings me joy to serve. Putting the needs of others before my own helps me to be humble and encourage others all at the same time!

Neglected Institute

Bryce here! I’ve pinpointed the location of an abandoned Institute. It’s full of Machines that we have to battle, as well as Gliddles we need to rescue! 

Be careful roaming those halls--our sensors show that there are giant Machines inside. Team up with Gliddles and battle hard! Remember, if a Gliddle gets tired, the next Gliddle will take its place as your battle partner. Right-click to switch Gliddles on the fly. Maybe you want to conserve a Gliddle’s energy, or maybe you’ll want to use the right Gliddle for the job!

There seems to be an interconnected door system in the Institute. Unlocking one door will unlock many others! Be on the lookout for door switches and out-of-place grates!

Hey Lightgliders!

Hi, I’m Kwan. I was born and raised in what is known as South Korea today. I have always been curious and inventive. And I like to work behind the scenes. My biggest passion at Lightglider Academy is to figure out the blight problem. That dark ooze is destroying the land and taking away its beauty and purpose. Have you seen it yet on one of your missions? Thankfully, we can use the RES harvested in the Treehouses to clear the blight. But, I want to find a permanent solution. That is my goal.

‍

I usually hang out in the Innovation Lab. Feel free to come visit me there. I work closely with the Gliddles to invent things that can help -- better gliders, new technologies, stuff like that. To solve problems, we need to be creative and we need to work together!

‍

I don’t like to be the center of attention but that doesn’t mean I can’t make a powerful impact on the world. I work behind the scenes to help Tambika run the Academy, assist Bryce on missions, and support each Lightglider in their mission to Respect, Rescue and Restore. I have discovered ways to use my unique gifts to help others. I’ve learned that a great way to develop friendships is to be a friend to everyone and to look for ways to serve. When we work with our friends, using our unique gifts, we can accomplish great things while building a wonderful community!

So, I encourage you today–be a friend to everybody and watch how God uses you!

Emerald Fields

Hello, I’m Nisha! I serve in a lot of places at Lightglider Academy, but I mostly try to help the other leaders handle the blight problem in the Yonders. And this mission is all about restoring the land! The Emerald Fields in the Yonders are usually so beautiful, but they’ve been taken over by blight. My tip for you is to open up enough room in the blight so that you can dodge Machine attacks. The Emerald Fields are home to many green Gliddles, and to use their power correctly, you’ll have to get up close to Machines! Patience is the key to defeating Machines and clearing blight. Remember, if you run out of RES, come back to Lightglider Academy and give out Boosts to recharge!

I’ve heard that there’s a Machine that’s very hard to get to… Maybe the fences in this area don’t extend the whole way around the Fields?

Professor Watts had asked me to tell you a little about myself and to share with you one of my character qualities that stands out. I’m Bryce, one of the leaders at Lightglider Academy. I’m from Australia and I am passionate about doing courageous things, such as going on missions to the Yonders, shining light in the darkness, and sharing the good news with my friends. I’m not afraid to go and try to make an impact. Living for something greater than ourselves is the secret to living a life of purpose. It’s not always easy, but it does make life an adventure!

‍

I suppose one of my most admirable character qualities is bravery. That simply means I live with courage! No matter what I am facing, I know that God loves me and is with me. This motivates me to be brave and to never give up.  

‍

If you seek to learn new things and to make a difference in the lives of others, you will have to be brave. You will have to face new challenges with courage.

‍

What is going on in your life right now that requires bravery? I encourage you to face it and keep going!

Hey there! My name’s Bryce, and I’m the head of missions here at Lightglider Academy. I love to save Gliddles from the Machines, so my mission for you is to take on the Machines where it’ll hurt them most! We’ve discovered the location of a Machine Bunker, where Machines are made and sent out into the Yonders. We need to shut this factory down! 

There are lots of Machines in there, so stay alert! Remember, your defense systems can fire automatically, so concentrate on dodging enemy attacks while you battle Machines. Some Machines are programmed to guard doors and hallways. They have lots of armor, but they’re very slow. Stop at a safe distance and you’ll whittle them down!

Go get ‘em!  I’ll be rooting for you!
