Hey Lightgliders!

Hi, I’m Kwan. I was born and raised in South Korea. I have always been curious and inventive. And I like to work behind the scenes. My biggest passion at Lightglider Academy is to figure out the blight problem. That dark ooze is destroying the land and taking away its beauty and purpose. Have you seen it yet on one of your missions? Thankfully, we can use our light to clear the blight. But, I want to find a permanent solution. That is my goal.

‍

I usually hang out in the Innovation Lab. Feel free to come visit me there. I work closely with the Gliddles to invent things that can help -- better gliders, new technologies, stuff like that. To solve problems, we need to be creative and we need to work together!

‍

I don’t like to be the center of attention but that doesn’t mean I can’t make a powerful impact on the world. I work behind the scenes to help Tambika run the Academy, assist Bryce on missions, and support each Lightglider in the mission to Respect, Rescue and Restore. I have discovered ways to use my unique gifts to help others. I’ve learned that a great way to develop friendships is to be a friend to others and to look for ways to serve them. When we work with our friends, using our unique gifts, we can accomplish great things while building a wonderful community!

So, I encourage you today–be a friend to everybody and watch how God uses you!

Entryway

Hi there! My name’s Kwan, and I handle technology at the Academy. I have a mission for you that requires some quick thinking! The Entryway to some sort of abandoned building has a ton of special switches and secrets, so explore every nook and cranny of this level! Rumor has it that there’s also some sort of giant Machine somewhere on the Entryway grounds!

Can you get into the first room of the building? There’s some sort of special switch that you have to find and press… maybe it’s in a hard-to-reach area? Or maybe it’s hidden in plain sight? You’ll have to go to find out!

Hey Lightgliders!

Professor Watts had asked me to tell you a little about myself and to share with you one of my character qualities that stands out. I’m Bryce, one of the leaders at Lightglider Academy. I’m from Australia and I am passionate about doing courageous things, such as going on missions to the Yonders, shining light in the darkness, and sharing the good news with my friends. I’m not afraid to go and try to make an impact. Living for something greater than ourselves is the secret to living a life of purpose. It’s not always easy, but it does make life an adventure!

‍

One of my most admirable character qualities is bravery. That simply means I live with courage! No matter what I am facing, I know that God loves me and is with me. This motivates me to be brave and to never give up.  

‍

If you seek to learn new things and to make a difference in the lives of others, you will have to be brave. You will have to face new challenges with courage.

‍

What is going on in your life right now that requires bravery? I encourage you to face it and keep going!

Bryce here! Good job in the previous Bunker! You’re becoming a tremendous Lightglider. I have another mission for you. We’ve found another Bunker that creates Machines, this time underneath the big lake in the Yonders. The Machines there will be alerted to your presence, so stay sharp! Remember, different Gliddles are better at battling some Machines than others, so pay attention to the colors of the Machines and your Gliddles! Right-click to swap your active Gliddle!

Hey Lightgliders!

Jabari yako rafiki! That means ‘How are you my friend?’ in Swahili. I’m Tambika. I manage Lightglider Academy while Professor Watts is away. Running this place isn’t easy, but it is rewarding. I try to meet all the new Lightgliders when they arrive in the Courtyard. That is a fun part of my job! 

‍

I was born and raised in Tanzania. Do you know where that is? It is a beautiful country in Africa. Growing up, I always looked for leadership positions in my school and community. I love to serve others through organization. I love plans. I love calendars. I love details. And all of these things are important at Lightglider Academy. Otherwise, everything would be more chaotic than it already is!

‍

I encourage you to use your gifts to serve others. We need people in this world with all types of gifts and talents. No matter how you are gifted, always remember that being a leader means serving others first. This is called servant leadership.

Mountain Melee

Hey, it’s Tambika! This bonus mission we’re sending you on is definitely tough, but I think you are the right Lightglider for the job! You’ll be going into the mountains to take on another Machine spawner. You’ll need some fancy gliding skills to brave the waves of Machines!

Be ready to dodge and weave through the Machine attacks, and let the Gliddles you rescue help you out! Be sure to check your Gliddles’ energy levels at the bottom of the screen. If all of your Gliddles are tired, send them back to the Academy and rescue more!

Once you’ve defeated the Machine spawner, you’ll be able to save all the Gliddles without trouble. Try to save a purple Gliddle or two for the end. Their chain lightning powers are very strong against Machines that try to rush at you. Keep them at bay and glide on!

Hey Lightgliders!

I have the distinct privilege of introducing our new series called “Ways to Shine.” This week we are talking about Role Models and the positive character qualities that they possess.

‍

Now I know what you’re thinking. “Isn’t a role model just really good-looking bread?” And to that I say, “No, that’s a roll model.”  Wow, I just got really hungry.  

‍

A role model is someone you can look up to! He or she serves as an example for how to live, how to treat people, and how to grow in your faith. I can’t tell you how important it is to have good role models!  One of my first role models ever was Marlon, who hangs out in the Academy Library.  Marlon cares about me and shows me what it looks like to walk with God. Who are some of your role models? It could be a parent, an older sibling, a teacher, a coach, or perhaps a leader in your church. I encourage you to find someone you look up to, watch how they live their lives, and ask them lots of questions. And remember to listen to their answers!

Sludge Valley

Tambika here! Are you ready for a new mission? We need you to help clean out the swampy area of Sludge Valley. Make no mistake--it can get pretty gross in the swamps! Add on Machines and blight, and you have a recipe for potential disaster! The Gliddles that live here don’t mind the usual swampy muck, but the blight makes the area completely uninhabitable. Rescue them and bring them to Zipways so they can live peacefully in the Treehouses!

Although blight usually spreads along the ground, it can also creep up tree trunks and choke the tree branches. Click on trees multiple times to slowly restore their original beauty with your RES! You can usually find amazing treasures and Materials under the blighted trees once they are fully restored!

Hey Lightgliders!

‍

This is the last week of our Unit on the Lightglider Mission–to know, grow in, and show God’s love. As we are on a mission to SHOW God’s love, this week we’re talking about KINDNESS, which is an attribute of God that we can reflect. So, we don’t just want to talk about kindness this week, we want to show it! To be kind means to be friendly, generous, and considerate. Our theme verse this week is Colossians 3:12 (NLT): “Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” 

‍

This verse tells us to clothe ourselves with lots of different character qualities. Have you ever thought about that? You can choose to put qualities like kindness on like you put on your clothes in the morning. Just like we pick out which shirt or pair of shoes we are going to wear, we can choose to be kind, humble, gentle, and patient throughout our day. Clothing ourselves with kindness is a powerful way to show God’s character to the world around us. The Bible also tells us in Romans 2:4 that God’s kindness is what leads us to turn to Him in the first place. So pick up kindness and put it on like a jacket. Wear it everywhere you go!

Swamp Skirmish

Hello! It’s Nisha. I wanted to talk to you about our next bonus mission. It’s the toughest one yet, so be very careful as you go into the fight! There is a Machine spawner in the swamps, and we need you to Battle your way through and rescue the Gliddles there!

Taking care of the Gliddles here is your highest priority! Letting them help you in the right order for the right Machines is crucial to your success. If the Machine attacks are too much, leave the area and try another angle!

‍

This mission is very difficult. If you can’t defeat some of the Machines, try to work with a friend and give each other a powerful Strength Boost back in the Academy before heading back out to the Yonders!

Hey Lightgliders!

‍

Our lives operate at a fast pace. We wake up, eat breakfast, go to school, come home, do homework, eat dinner, go to bed, and often repeat it all the next day. If we’re not careful, our schedules and routines will quickly control our entire lives. 

‍

In this week’s theme verse, Psalm 46:10, God is telling us to be still before Him. Why? Because slowing down and being still allows a couple of things to happen. First, we have the opportunity to remember all that God has done for us. Second, we are reminded that He is in charge of our lives and not us! Being still before God and taking time to reflect is good for our soul. When you do this, you will more clearly see God at work in creation, in the people you encounter, and in your own life. Sometimes He will even speak to your heart when you are still before Him. My prayer is that you hear Him whisper how much He loves you because He really does!

Hey Lightgliders!

As we continue to look at ways to know, grow in, and show God’s love, the theme this week is PRAYER. Prayer simply means talking with God. It enables us to connect with God and GROW in His love. The primary goal of prayer is friendship with the One who made us! God loves when we talk with Him about our lives, thank Him for the good things He has given us, and ask Him for help. Prayer doesn’t have to be long and full of big words for it to matter. Prayer is telling God what is on your heart, and listening for what is on His. Our theme verse this week tells us to always be praying.

Through prayer, we are connecting with the One who loves us the most!

Cave In

Hey Lightgliders, Tambika here! I have a new bonus mission to give to you! We’ve received word of a Cave In inside the Volcano, and we need to chart a new path through the blight that’s built up in there. But there are many powerful Machines inside! With your defense system jammed, you won’t be able to fight back! Luckily, they are trapped in the blight.

If you can create a path through the blight that doesn’t let the Machines escape, you can beat this mission! Plot your course carefully and you’ll come out on top! You may be thinking,  “Vol-ca-no!” But, I say “Vol-ca-YES!” You can do it!

Have you completed some of the secondary objectives? Doing so earns you extra Materials! Can you clear 100 blight in this mission? Choose what blight to clear carefully, though--those Machines are ready for any mistake!

Through Jesus, we become a part of a worldwide community of people who follow Him. As a part of this faith community, we all offer something unique. God has made each one of us with special gifts, talents, and passions to shine His light throughout the world.

When we gather together with others in our community of faith, we have opportunities to learn about God, encourage each other, pray together, understand the Scriptures, and experience Jesus. When we do this, God is glorified and we are strengthened!

Forward Base

In order to stop the spread of blight, Lightglider Academy wants to set up a new base in the Yonders! We need your help to defend it against the oncoming hordes of Machines while upgrading your defenses! Just remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day. If at first the base is overrun, just regroup, make some upgrades with the scrap you find from the Machines, and try try again! Persistence is key on this one!

Hey Lightgliders!

We’re kicking off a new unit this week on the Lightgliders Mission: to KNOW, GROW in, and SHOW God’s love. And this first week we are talking about the Bible! It’s a big book that has a lot in it. Some see it as an intimidating book that is hard to understand. Some see it as an old book meant for an older time. Do not let these opinions stop you from reading it! The Bible reveals the most important story we could ever know - the true story of God’s love for us. God makes Himself known through the pages of the Bible and we have the opportunity to get to know Him every time we read it! The Bible is an inspired treasure map pointing to the greatest treasure of all – Jesus!  Though some of the stories in the Bible can be hard to understand, it begins to become more clear as we continue to read it, ask questions, and grow in our understanding. We can pray and ask God for wisdom when we open up our Bibles. We can ask those that are older and wiser to read the Bible with us and help us understand! Engaging with the Bible isn’t a one-time thing. We can read it for a lifetime and gain more knowledge, understanding, and wisdom each time we open it up!

Hey Lightgliders!

As Lightgliders, we seek to respect others, rescue Gliddles, and restore the land of Glideon! Hopefully, you know that by now. But do you know why we do these things? Because we value love here. Love motivates each of the goals of a Lightglider. We want it to motivate everything we do in life. That’s why it is one of our core values. When we love, we put the needs of others ahead of our own. Unfortunately, our selfishness will continue to try to rule our thoughts and motivations, so we need to be continually reminded to love. The best reminder for me to love is to think about Jesus. And to remember what He did on the cross. He did that for me. And because He chose to love me when I didn’t deserve it, I remember to love others.

What does it look like to love the people in your life?  Do you offer words of encouragement? Do you serve, give gifts, write notes, smile, hug, share, or listen? There are lots of ways to love others. Love energizes any atmosphere.
