Hey Lightgliders!

We have recently been looking at the final chapter of The Far Greater Story known as Restoration. We have learned that Jesus will come back one day and restore all that is broken. Because we have this hope for tomorrow, we can live with peace today. When you have peace, your mind is calm and your heart is not troubled. Peace comes from Jesus, who promises us a bright future with Him.

‍

Is your mind and heart experiencing peace today? If not, talk to Jesus and ask Him to comfort you. He loves you more than you could possibly imagine. Eternal life with Him is the end of the Far Greater Story. Or is it the beginning?

‍

Let’s celebrate this good news in Lightglider Academy this week!

Justice is a fun, active Lightglider who seems to get along with everyone! He enjoys playing games around the Academy and is a great friend to have. Way to go, Justice! 

Blaze is such a fun Lightglider! He is always a joy to have at games and events. He brings life to the party, includes everyone, and makes the Academy more fun. He is always ready to pray for his friends in the Academy! Way to go, Blaze! You rock!

Guard Dogs

Bryce here! I have a special mission for you. There are small groups of Machines that are patrolling the Yonders. I need you to help battle them! It looks like they aren’t too difficult to defeat, but their Materials disappear quickly!

Slow and steady wins the race with these Machines. Try to battle the smaller guard Machines first, since their Materials last longer than the pink Machines!

Using a Pink Gliddle to soften the Machine’s armor and then using an Orange Gliddle to slow them down is a strong tactic. Make sure to stay clear of the yellow Machines, but rush the pink ones!

Hey Lightgliders! 

‍

This week our theme is hope. It’s a small word with a big impact. To live with hope means to look to the future with the expectation that good things are coming. And because of God’s promise to restore this broken world one day, we can be confident that good things are coming!  

However, living with this expectation is tough to do sometimes, especially if things around us are tough. But, because of Jesus, we always have a reason to live with hope. As we learned last week, God promises eternal life and a fully restored world. He will make everything right again some day. The future is secure. Therefore, we always have a reason to hope!

And, trust me on this, hope is invigorating. It is electrifying. It is powerful! When we live with hope, we will share it with others. And, like a spark, the fire of hope spreads and the future begins to look brighter and brighter to those around you. Think of the Gliddles in the Yonders. Just knowing that Lightgliders are out there gives them hope that the future will be bright. This is the power of hope. 

I try to wake up each day with hope--with the expectation that the day will be new, exciting, and meaningful. I'm telling you, living with hope makes a difference!

Hey Lightgliders!

‍

Over the last few weeks, we’ve learned about Creation, Rebellion, and Redemption. Now it’s time for the final chapter of the Far Greater Story–Restoration! Every good story has a BIG ending. Well, the Far Greater Story has the BIGGEST ending that actually leads to a new beginning. This is the one part of the Far Greater Story that we have yet to experience fully. It will happen some time in the future, and we can look forward to it with great anticipation!

‍

To restore something means to bring it back to its original condition. This is what God will do with our broken world when Jesus comes back. God has redeemed His children through Jesus, but we still experience the consequences of sin and rebellion in the world today. Jesus has promised us that He will return and make right all that has gone wrong. This is what “Restoration” is all about. Scripture tells us that there will be no more pain, or crying, or suffering for those who have placed their faith in Jesus. 

‍

Until that day comes, we can work to restore the world around us in small ways. Every word of truth that we speak and every act of love that we do in His name points to this future restoration. When we shine light in the darkness, we are a signpost of what is to come.

Hey Lightgliders!

‍

As we recognize how much God loves us through Jesus, we can love others! We can see others how Jesus sees them - with great love and dignity! As we choose to love others through our words and actions, it will affect our hearts. And as we genuinely feel concern for others in our hearts, we will grow in compassion. Having compassion means that we are tenderhearted toward other people. We try to place ourselves in their shoes and treat them with love, dignity, and respect. We treat them how we would want to be treated. If we understand God’s compassion towards us, we will be compassionate with others. Who do you have genuine concern for? Who do you show compassion to? How do you show it?

‍

Showing compassion may look a little different for everyone. We can write notes of encouragement, listen to others’ problems, invite a new friend to sit with us during school lunch, or tell our parents how much we love them. Small acts of compassion make a big difference.

Can you imagine if everyone showed a little bit of compassion every day? It would change the world!

Hey Lightgliders!

We have been discussing The Far Greater Story of God’s love for us in recent weeks. We are currently learning about redemption and how God bought back our lives through Jesus. When we understand this truth, we can confidently point others to the story of Jesus with great courage!

‍

To be courageous is to be brave. To take risks. To initiate. To try new things. To do hard things. To not be afraid of failing. We can be courageous because our confidence comes from God’s love for us, and not from anything else! 

‍

As Lightgliders, we will not shrink back from difficulties or danger. We will not run away from opportunities to help those in need. 

‍

Be courageous today, Lightgliders! Remember that you are never alone. Nothing can separate you from God’s love.

Tinker Tech

The Lightglider leaders need you! When we’re in the Yonders, one of our goals is to defeat the Machines in order to rescue gliddles and restore the land! In order to do that, we are always looking to build new tech to help us battle. In Tinker Tech, we need you to build different kinds of tech out of the parts available to help in this mission!

Hey Lightgliders! 

‍

We’re talking about the Lightglider value of confidence this week. Confidence comes from a strong belief that you are known and loved. We can live with confidence because of how much God knows and loves us! How can we be so sure of this? Because of what Jesus did at the cross! Remember redemption week? God sent Jesus to redeem us, to purchase back our lives. Do you realize what this means? It means that we never have to question our value, no matter what anyone says or thinks about us. We are known and greatly loved by the Creator of the universe!

‍

Never forget how valuable you are. You always have a reason to be confident because of what Jesus did for you. Our confidence does not come from our abilities, our friends, or our moral performance. These things are not dependable. Our confidence comes from God's immeasurable love for us, which was showcased through Jesus at the cross! When we understand that our confidence can be anchored upon the unchanging rock of God's love, we will walk with the courage and boldness necessary to shine in dark places, to stand up for what is right, and to repent when we make mistakes.

Hey Lightglider!

‍

Continuing in the Far Greater Story, we have come to its climax, known as Redemption. To redeem something means to buy it back. Remember that God created everything and called it good. This is why there is dignity in everyone you meet. However, we have all rebelled against God’s standard of goodness and love. This is called sin. And, because of sin, we experience pain, brokenness, and death. Without this next part of the story, we are left without hope. 

‍

God, in His goodness, has not left us hopeless! He sent His Son Jesus to redeem us. When Jesus died on the cross, He took our sin and bought us back! He made a way for us to be restored to God and to live with Him forever! This is what it means to be redeemed. This is the heart of The Far Greater Story and the proof that God loves us.

River Journey

Tambika here, with another mission for you! This time you’ll be clearing the blight and rescuing the Gliddles near the River. After your success in the Waterfall area, I’m sure you’ll do great!

We also try to send supply drops to tricky areas. Look for areas marked with a glowing door--you’ll find supplies to help you recharge and get back into the action! Glide on!

Hey Lightglider!

Oomph. I just got back from the Yonders and it was rough! I barely escaped without getting covered in blight. We’re talking about honesty this week in Lightgliders, so I guess I need to practice it myself. Sometimes it’s hard for me to admit that I can get discouraged, but to be honest means to be truthful. I’m here to tell you today to be honest with yourself. Pay attention to your feelings and be honest about them with God and with those who love you. God knows exactly how you are feeling, so you can always be honest with Him in your prayers.

Also, be honest with others. Have you ever told a lie to make yourself look good or to avoid getting into trouble? You might be tempted to protect yourself in this way rather than to be honest and accept a consequence. Here’s the honest truth about me right now -- I want you to think I’m a skilled Lightglider, but that is not always true. I was unable to complete my last mission to the Yonders. I’m going to talk to Nisha to get her advice on how to do it. With her insight, I hope to succeed next time. Wow, I’m realizing even as I write this to you that honesty and humility are connected.

Being honest honors God and shows others that we can be trusted. Speak the truth, Lightglider. Refuse to lie. In doing so, you are showing the character of Christ.

Tinker Tech

The Lightglider leaders need you! When we’re in the Yonders, one of our goals is to defeat the Machines in order to rescue gliddles and restore the land! In order to do that, we are always looking to build new tech to help us battle. In Tinker Tech, we need you to build different kinds of tech out of the parts available to help in this mission!

Hey Lightglider!

We have been learning about the Far Greater Story in recent weeks. This is the most important story ever. It is the true story of God’s love for us! 

‍

We talked about how God is good and has created all things good. However, we have rebelled against Him and His standard for goodness and love. This is called sin. It causes destruction in the world and is the reason the world has so many problems. 

‍

Once we recognize that we have rebelled against God, we have the opportunity to repent. To repent means to turn away from sin and turn to God, and this requires humility. The Bible tells us to repent of our sins so that they may be wiped away. When God wipes away our sin, that is an act that we call forgiveness. 

‍

If we confess our sin, God is faithful to forgive us! God forgives us of our sin and restores our relationship with Him. And when we understand that God is willing to forgive when we don’t deserve it, we can forgive others as well!

Knowing that God is willing to forgive you, who do you need to be willing to forgive this week?

Hey Lightgliders!

This week we are discussing the Lightglider value of humility. We learned last week about rebellion - how we have all rebelled against God’s commands and have fallen short of His standard for goodness. Even though we are created to shine like stars in the universe, we must understand that we are far from perfect. The sin and selfishness that began in the Garden of Eden carries on today in every human heart. It causes division, brokenness, and strife. Admitting our need for God’s love and forgiveness requires humility. To live with humility means to acknowledge that we are weak. We cannot depend on our own talents, accomplishments, or even our good behavior. These things will fail us and will never be able to make up for our sin. We have to depend on God and His power to save us through Jesus. Only with humble hearts is this even possible. As we live with humility, we are able to take our focus off ourselves, receive God’s love, and truly focus on the needs of others.

When you go on enough Yonders missions, you will be ready for one filled with puzzles. One of these is called “Keep Out!” That’s a good name for it because those who are proud or unwilling to fail should keep out. To complete it, you will need humility. Stay focused on your missions to the Yonders. You will fail at some. You will succeed at some. But, in everything including Yonders missions, stay humble!
