Hi Lightgliders! 

‍

Purpose is one of the five core values of a Lightglider. To live with purpose means to live with the belief that your life matters. As Lightgliders, we believe that our lives are both valuable and meaningful. But how do we know this is true? It comes from the truth that God made us in His image. As we learned last week, God created us in His image, so our lives have worth and dignity that no one can take away. If the Creator of the universe took time to create you, then guess what–you are here for a reason! To live with purpose means to live every day with this strong belief.

In Lightglider Academy, we rescue Gliddles, clear the blight, and try to help others any way we can. Look around you. The world is in need and you were uniquely created to make a difference! Each day provides us a new opportunity to live an adventure filled with purpose!

Trixie is fun to have around at Lightglider Academy. She makes great game suggestions, is patient and kind, and shares encouraging words with everyone. She even hosted "Bible Trivia" at games this month! Way to go, Trixie!

Mac was SUPER nice at Moderated games last week, offering to buy gear for other Lightgliders! Keep up the great work, Mac!

Hover Frenzy

It’s madness on the hoverboard assembly floor! With so many Lightgliders that need new hoverboards, production is trying to keep up! Help keep assembly on track by catching the falling hoverboards and putting them on the conveyor belt before they all fall to the ground. Purple hoverboards are worth more points, so be sure to grab those when you can! Watch out though, you can’t carry too many!

Hello there Lightglider!

Did you know that the Bible begins by telling us that God is the Creator? The very first verse of Genesis tells us this! He created the heavens, the earth, the animals, and human beings. And He called all that He created good. And Genesis 1:27 tells us that God created us in His image. You were made in the image of a good, holy, and loving God.

‍

Do you realize what this means?! It means that our lives matter! It means that our lives are valuable! It means that we are capable of extraordinary things! 

‍

Because you bear God’s image, you have dignity and purpose that is worthy of honor and respect. And, in the same way a mirror reflects your image back to you, you have the opportunity to reflect the image of God to the world. You are a light made to shine!

Waterfall Cavern

Hello again! It’s Tambika, and I’m giving you a new mission in Waterfall Cavern, just underneath Waterfall Meadow. This cave seems to be where a lot of the blight is coming from, so we need to get in there and destroy the blight inside! Click on blight next to you to clear it. You can click and drag on multiple blight patches to restore them quickly! Blight usually covers treasures and Materials in the Yonders. Go ahead and grab them; you can trade them for cool stuff here at the Academy!

Clearing blight uses RES, the yellow bar to the left of your screen. If you run out, don’t worry. Just come back to the Academy and hang out. Your RES will recharge over time, and then you can go back to the mission where you last passed a checkpoint! Be on the lookout for RES orbs in the Yonders as well. Don’t grab the RES orbs if you’re already full on RES, or they’ll be wasted!

Did you know that the Lightgliders story that you have entered into points to a far greater, far more important story? As you continue to learn about being a Lightglider, you’ll hear that we seek to respect, rescue, and restore. And you will learn how this points to the Far Greater Story, the true story of God’s love for us found in the Bible!

The Bible reveals God as the ultimate respecter, rescuer, and restorer. He RESPECTS us by creating us in His image, giving us dignity, and loving us. He RESCUES us from the grip of our sin and selfishness through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. And He promises to RESTORE us and our broken world one day so that we may live forever with Him. This is The Far Greater Story.

Bible Code Breaker

Marlon here! Part of my job at Lightglider Academy is to unlock the secrets of the Far Greater Story. You can help me uncover the hidden messages from the Bible by solving the code! My advice is to start small. Figuring out small words like “the,” “and,” “I,” “a,” and “an” will help you on the larger words. Remember, the code is always different from puzzle to puzzle!

Hey Lightgliders!

If you are new around here, we - the other Lightglider leaders and me - want you to know that you were MADE TO SHINE! That is something you will hear a lot around here because we need to be reminded of it regularly. Let me tell you what this means.

• God created you uniquely. There is no one in the history of the world like you. No one else has your exact personality, interests, and talents. In other words, you were made. 

• You have opportunities every day to use your uniqueness to love God and to love others in ways that only you can. When you do this, you shine.

• When you put these two ideas together, it is easy to see that you were made to shine! 

‍

And this is what we Lightgliders seek to do. With a lot of darkness in the world, this can feel like a big responsibility. But like a candle in a dark tunnel, even the smallest light can be blinding. If you’ve been to Machine Bunker in the Yonders, you know what I mean!

‍

Jesus is the true light of the world. He is the light that the darkness can never extinguish. As we follow Him, we will shine like stars in the heavens and make an impact on the world. Let’s reflect His love and light everywhere we go!

Hey there, Lightgliders! I’m Kwan and it’s my job to make sure you’re outfitted, trained, and ready for action. We have learned over the last few months that the Lightglider goals, values, mission, and leaders all seek to point to the Far Greater Story of God's love for us revealed in the Bible. As we grow as Lightgliders, we will shine light in the darkness and point others to the Far Greater Story as well!

‍

This week we are reminding our amazing community just what it means to be a Lightglider! So, whether you are new to Lightgliders or have been in the Academy for a while, I encourage you to pay close attention.  

‍

Lightgliders are defenders of good. We are a team that helps out those in need. And, right now, the land of Glideon needs us! For unknown reasons, a mysterious gooey substance called blight is spreading all over the land. At the same time, strange Machines have appeared and are kidnapping the Gliddles! It’s up to us to go on missions into the Yonders to clear away the blight and to rescue the Gliddles from the Machines!

Being a Lightglider is a purposeful adventure. As you engage in all there is to do in the Academy and throughout the Yonders, you will have opportunities to learn about the greatest adventure there is–to know, grow in, and show God’s love. You were made to shine!

Hey Lightgliders!

We have learned what it looks like to be a role model and to be faithful with how God has uniquely made us. So now we want to look at “impact,” which is the result of your faithfulness.  As you share God’s love with others in ways that only you can, you will have a great impact. God has created you with unique strengths and gifts! And, according to this week’s theme verse, He has planned good things for you to do with your life. These good things will impact the world in a positive way. I hope that as you go on missions, play games, or watch videos in Lightgliders, you discover what you are passionate about, what you are good at, and what gifts others see in you.  And as you continue to KNOW and GROW in God’s love, you will SHOW others that life with Him is an amazing adventure!

Think about the kind of impact you want to have on the world, and ask God to empower you to be and do everything He created you to be and to do.

Hey Lightgliders!

‍

We’ve been talking quite a bit about the character qualities that our Lightglider leaders display in their lives! We can look up to them and imitate the unique ways they lead, serve, and seek out God’s wisdom! Now you get to take a look at YOURSELF! One of the greatest character qualities for Lightgliders to grow in is faithfulness. The word “faithful” means to be true, steadfast, and loyal. As Lightgliders, we want to be faithful to God and to how He has uniquely made us.

‍

How has God made you unique? What gifts and talents do you have? What is your personality like? Be faithful to use these things for His glory! God is the greatest example of faithfulness. He has been, and will always be, fully faithful to His promises that we read in the Bible. As you are faithful, God’s character will be on display through you!

‍

Can you think of examples of faithfulness? Here are a few that I thought of for when I am in Lightglider Academy:

Neglected Institute

Bryce here! I’ve pinpointed the location of an abandoned Institute. It’s full of Machines that we have to battle, as well as Gliddles we need to rescue! 

Be careful roaming those halls--our sensors show that there are giant Machines inside. Team up with Gliddles and battle hard! Remember, if a Gliddle gets tired, the next Gliddle will take its place as your battle partner. Right-click to switch Gliddles on the fly. Maybe you want to conserve a Gliddle’s energy, or maybe you’ll want to use the right Gliddle for the job!

There seems to be an interconnected door system in the Institute. Unlocking one door will unlock many others! Be on the lookout for door switches and out-of-place grates!

Hey everybody, I am Santiago! I try to bring life to the Lightglider Academy party! I cannot tell you HOW MUCH FUN it is to be alive today. And I cannot tell you how great it is to be a Lightglider. You know what our goals are, right? RESPECT. RESCUE. RESTORE.

‍

I believe that to RESTORE includes bringing joy to people who need it. Sometimes through laughter. Sometimes through music. Sometimes through just hanging out and being friendly. Everyone is totally unique, so it can be difficult to know what will bring joy to another. I make it my goal to find out. Do you know what brings you joy? I would love to know!

I grew up in Honduras in a large house with a bunch of other boys. None of us were related but they are my brothers. We’ve been through a lot together. Do you know what brings me joy? People. Having people to talk to, hang out with, and care for is the greatest. I hope you find that here at Lightglider Academy.

Hey Lightgliders!

My name is Tova. I was one of the first leaders here at Lightglider Academy. Why? I saw the Gliddles in trouble and I wanted to help. My heart was burdened and I had to come. It really didn’t take a lot of thought or planning. Before I knew it, Bryce sent me on a mission to the Yonders.  

‍

I was born and raised in the United Kingdom. Growing up, I always enjoyed meeting new people and striking up conversations. I realized that many people are hurting, so I made it my mission to be a source of healing and encouragement. I care deeply for the poor, for orphans, and for those who are lonely. Who do you care deeply for?

I like to think of each day as a new opportunity for a purposeful adventure. You never know what new friend or significant moment awaits you! So be on the lookout, and care for those you encounter.

Timberlands Treetops

Hey, Lightglider! It’s Bryce. Our next mission is to head back to the Timberlands and explore the treetops! There are lots of dangerous Machines up there, but I know you’ll battle them with ease!

A great tactic to deal with faster Machines is to “kite!” When a Machine charges you, start slowly backing away, firing behind you as you go. The Machine will try to chase you, but they won’t be able to catch you. It’s like you’re stringing along a kite behind you!

Use this tactic on many of the smaller Machines. You’ll come out on top!

Hey Lightgliders! 

‍

My name is Marlon. You’ll usually find me hanging out in the Library at Lightglider Academy. I am from the United States and I love doing two things - reading books and working out. It’s important to exercise the mind and the body. I am often considered the more “brainy” of the Academy leaders. I investigate any new idea before believing it or acting upon it. That’s why I was the last to join the Academy leaders. I had to make sure that rescuing Gliddles and clearing blight were the right things to do. Usually when we are thinking of others before ourselves, it is the right thing to do. But I had to make sure that the consequences of these actions were good, and not just their intention.

I am passionate about discovering truth. We are in a world filled with many ideas competing for our attention. Ideas are either helpful or hurtful to others, ourselves, and the world around us. My hope for you and for Lightgliders everywhere is that we learn to tell the difference between a good idea and a bad one. This understanding is what wisdom is all about. 

‍

I encourage you to search hard for truth. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. And focus on the most important questions, the ones that have the greatest impact on your life and the world around you. Two thousand years ago a man named Jesus claimed to be God and said that whoever believes in him would receive eternal life. People believed him at the time and still do to this day. I encourage you to investigate the truth about Jesus. In Matthew 16:15, Jesus asks a really important question. He says, “Who do you say that I am?” Take time to answer this question. I have found that He is the key to gaining wisdom.
