• Why is Jesus’ birth important?

Just like the shepherds, we are to share the good news of Christmas with others. Jesus is the reason for the season!

Dream of ways to shine this week. Here are some suggestions!

• Shine by including someone who might feel left out! Whether you’re at a school event, a Christmas party, or a family gathering, invite a friend or a family member who is sitting alone to play! Christmas is about Jesus coming close to us - so you shine when you help someone feel loved and welcomed!

• Shine by serving your family without being asked! Help wrap gifts, pick up the living room, set the table, or play with your younger siblings. And do it with a happy heart! Serving is a way of saying, “I love you,” the same way Jesus showed love by coming to serve us!

• Shine by giving more than just presents - give kindness! Write a thank-you note, make a card for a neighbor, share a toy with a sibling, or forgive someone quickly when they annoy you. Gifts are fun, but kindness lasts longer. When you choose love, patience, and forgiveness, you shine like a Christmas light pointing to Jesus!

Ezra loves praying and playing games with his friends. He constantly comes to the Ambassador hangout and is such a joy to have around!

Neglected Institute

Bryce here! I’ve pinpointed the location of an abandoned Institute. It’s full of Machines that we have to battle, as well as Gliddles we need to rescue! 

Be careful roaming those halls--our sensors show that there are giant Machines inside. Team up with Gliddles and battle hard! Remember, if a Gliddle gets tired, the next Gliddle will take its place as your battle partner. Right-click to switch Gliddles on the fly. Maybe you want to conserve a Gliddle’s energy, or maybe you’ll want to use the right Gliddle for the job!

There seems to be an interconnected door system in the Institute. Unlocking one door will unlock many others! Be on the lookout for door switches and out-of-place grates!

Hey Lightgliders!

‍

Faith is a word you may hear quite a bit among people who go to church. But what does it mean? To have faith in something simply means to trust and believe in it. Did you know that we all practice faith on a daily basis? If you sit down in a chair, you trust and believe in that chair. You trust and believe that it will hold you up when you sit down! 

‍

Faith in Jesus is similar. It means that our trust and belief is in Him. We trust and believe that He is the Savior of the world. We can live with confidence and joy because our faith is in the only One who can rescue us from sin, evil, and death. And, according to our theme verse this week, the reward for our faith in Jesus is salvation. Jesus saves us from our sin and gives us eternal life. This is good news!

Dream of ways to shine this week. Here are some suggestions!

• Trust Jesus when you feel scared or unsure! Example: You have a big test, a game, or you’re nervous about something at home. Instead of panicking, pray: “Jesus, I trust You. Help me be brave and do my best.” Then believe He is with you! That kind of calm, confident trust shines to everyone around you.

• Choose what’s right even when it’s hard, because you believe Jesus rescued you! Example: Your friends want to cheat on homework, lie to a teacher, or be mean to someone at lunch. You decide not to join in - even if they think it’s “not cool.” You might say, “I’m not doing that,” or quietly walk away. Living like you belong to Jesus shows faith in action.

• Share the good news with kindness and joy! Example: A friend feels guilty, sad, or like they mess up too much. You say something like, “I mess up too, but Jesus forgives me. He loves us a lot.” You don’t preach - just share hope. When you point someone to Jesus the Rescuer, your faith becomes a bright light!

Purple Mountain

It’s Nisha again, and I have a new mission for you. Purple Mountain is infested with Machines and blight, and it’s up to you to restore the mountain to its original majesty! 

Some Machines are trapped in the blight themselves! It’s easier to battle them while they can’t move around, so wait to clear the blight until after the Machines are defeated. Remember to clear blight before you grab the extra RES they drop! If most of your Gliddles get tired, bring them to a Zipway so that they can come to Lightglider Academy and rest.

Our scouts say that Purple Mountain is full of secret areas! Some of them lead to even more powerful Machines and many treasures, so stay alert and look out for open doors, grates, and fences!

Hey Lightgliders! 

‍

As Lightgliders, we seek to respect, rescue, and restore! Hopefully, you know that by now. But do you know why we do these things? We do them because of the love that was shown to us by God through Jesus! Because of His great love, we are respected, rescued, and restored. Therefore, we value love here. Love motivates each of the three Lightglider goals. In fact, we want it to motivate everything we do in life. That’s why it is one of our core values. 

‍

When we love, we put the needs of others ahead of our own. Unfortunately, our selfishness will continue to try to rule our thoughts and motivations, so we need to be continually reminded to love. The best reminder for me to love is to remember what Jesus did on the cross. He did that for me. And because He chose to love me when I didn’t deserve it, I try to remember to be grateful and motivated to love others.

What does it look like to love the people in your life?  Do you offer words of encouragement? Do you serve, give gifts, write notes, smile, hug, share, or listen? There are lots of ways to love others. Love energizes any atmosphere.

• Look for someone to encourage every day this week! Love lifts others up! Pick a new person to encourage each day! Say something kind to a classmate, thank a teacher or parent, or compliment someone who may feel unnoticed! A simple word of encouragement can brighten someone’s whole day and show God’s love in action!

• Serve someone without being asked! Lightgliders shine by doing small acts of service. Help clean up after dinner, carry a friend’s supplies, hold the door for others, or help a younger sibling with homework! Serving quietly - without expecting a reward - is a powerful way to put others first!

• Practice “Listening Love!” One of the most loving things you can do is truly listen! Listen when a friend is upset, pay attention when someone is talking, ask others how they’re doing and care about the answer, and put away distractions when someone needs help! Listening shows respect, value, and love - just like Jesus listens to us.

Bible Code Breaker

Marlon here! Part of my job at Lightglider Academy is to unlock the secrets of the Far Greater Story. You can help me uncover the hidden messages from the Bible by solving the code! My advice is to start small. Figuring out small words like “the,” “and,” “I,” “a,” and “an” will help you on the larger words. Remember, the code is always different from puzzle to puzzle!

Hey Lightgliders!

‍

Did you know that the Far Greater Story is not a fairy tale or a myth? All we have talked about over the last few weeks--Creation, Rebellion, Redemption, and Restoration--is true. It was proven true by a person we can learn about, Jesus, and an event that we can investigate, His death and resurrection.

‍

Think about that. Something happened in human history that proves that the story of God’s love for you is true.

‍

As a refresher, here are all the parts of the story:

• Creation tells us how this world and our lives became a reality. God created.

• Rebellion explains why there is evil, suffering, and death in this world. It is because we all have rebelled against God. This is called sin, and it is destructive. 

• Redemption shares how Jesus defeated sin and death through the cross event and made a way for us to be saved.

• Restoration gives us insight into why the future is bright. Jesus will restore all that is broken, and God will live with His people forever.

• Jesus – His life, death, and resurrection – proves that this is no fairy tale. The Far Greater Story is true. God’s love for you is real and He wants to have a relationship with you today and every day.

Christianity rests upon Jesus and what He did at the cross. If Jesus did not die on a cross and come back to life, then our faith in Him is only wishful thinking. But the truth is that He did die. He was buried in a tomb and He rose again, defeating sin and death for us. This is the gospel message. The word “gospel” simply means “good news,” and the good news is that Jesus is our Savior. Because of Jesus, we are forgiven and can live in a wonderful relationship with God forever. Over the next few weeks, we’re going to dive into what this means for our lives!

• Bring restoration wherever you go! Because Jesus defeated sin and will one day restore all things, you can shine by helping fix what’s broken around you! Clean up a messy part of your classroom without being asked, apologize and make things right after hurting someone, or help someone solve a problem! These small acts point to the big future restoration that Jesus promises!

• Live like someone who belongs to God! Since the Gospel is true, you can shine by living out your identity in Christ! Choose honesty even when it’s hard, show kindness instead of revenge, stand up for someone being left out, and forgive others because Jesus forgave them AND you! Your everyday choices show the world that you believe the true story about Jesus and His transforming love!

Hey Lightglider!

‍

This week we wrap up our unit on Restoration by talking about RESPONSIBILITY. God will restore all things one day, and while we wait, we can work to restore the world around us in small ways as a signpost of a wonderful future to come. We do this by the way we steward our lives and carry out our responsibilities. 

‍

To be responsible means to steward what we’ve been given with great care. It means to do what we’re supposed to do – even when we don’t feel like it – because it is the right thing to do. We are to always do our best with everything God has given us to do and care for. 

‍

What has God given to you to do or care for? I would guess it includes your friends, family, schoolwork, homework, extracurricular activities, chores, and even the time in your day. That’s a lot, I know. To make it easier, I encourage you to always be thinking about three questions.

• What am I supposed to be doing right now?

• Am I doing it?

• Am I doing my best at it?

Once you know what you’re supposed to be doing and you choose to do it with excellence, you are being responsible. And, Lightglider, you are shining, whether you know it or not! I want to encourage you today to know that when you are responsible with what you’ve been given to do or care for, you will be given greater responsibilities. You will have more opportunities to shine, which is what you were made to do!

• Be a good friend and teammate! Responsibility isn’t just about chores - it’s also about how we treat others. You can shine when you keep your word, show up on time, encourage teammates, invite someone in who is being left out, and many more! These small acts restore relationships and point others to God’s love!

• Use your gifts to help your community! You can take responsibility by serving in ways that match your talents - just like Kwan in the Innovation Lab! This might look like helping younger kids at church or school, picking up trash at the park, joining a service project, or volunteering to lead a group activity! When you use your gifts to make things better, you shine bright!

Sludge Valley

Tambika here! Are you ready for a new mission? We need you to help clean out the swampy area of Sludge Valley. Make no mistake--it can get pretty gross in the swamps! Add on Machines and blight, and you have a recipe for potential disaster! The Gliddles that live here don’t mind the usual swampy muck, but the blight makes the area completely uninhabitable. Rescue them and bring them to Zipways so they can live peacefully in the Treehouses!

Although blight usually spreads along the ground, it can also creep up tree trunks and choke the tree branches. Click on trees multiple times to slowly restore their original beauty with your RES! You can usually find amazing treasures and Materials under the blighted trees once they are fully restored!

Hey Lightgliders!

‍

We have recently been looking at the final chapter of The Far Greater Story known as Restoration. We have learned that, through Jesus, we have eternal life. We have learned that He will come back one day and restore all that is broken. Because we have this hope for tomorrow, we can live with peace today. When you have peace, your mind is calm and your heart is not troubled. Peace comes from Jesus, who promises us a bright future with Him.

Hi there! My name’s Kwan, and I handle technology at the Academy. I have a mission for you that requires some quick thinking! The Entryway to some sort of abandoned building has a ton of special switches and secrets, so explore every nook and cranny of this level! Rumor has it that there’s also some sort of giant Machine somewhere on the Entryway grounds!

Can you get into the first room of the building? There’s some sort of special switch that you have to find and press… maybe it’s in a hard-to-reach area? Or maybe it’s hidden in plain sight? You’ll have to go to find out!

Hey Lightgliders!

This week our theme is hope. It’s a small word with a big impact. To live with hope means to look to the future with the expectation that good things are coming. And because of God’s promise to restore this broken world one day, we can be confident that good things are coming!  

‍

However, living with this expectation is tough to do sometimes, especially if things around us are hard. But, because of Jesus, we always have a reason to live with hope. As we learned last week, God promises a wonderful afterlife and a fully restored world. He will make everything right again some day. The future is secure. Therefore, we always have a reason to hope!

‍

And, trust me on this, hope is invigorating. It is electrifying. It is powerful! When we live with hope, we will share it with others. And, like a spark, the fire of hope spreads and the future begins to look brighter and brighter to those around you. Think of the Gliddles in the Yonders. Just knowing that Lightgliders are out there gives them hope that the future will be bright. This is the power of hope.

I try to wake up each day with hope--with the expectation that the day will be new, exciting, and meaningful. I'm telling you, living with hope makes a difference!

• Start the day with positivity! When you wake up, think of one good thing that could happen today - big or small! Beginning your day with hopeful thoughts helps you see the world the way God does: full of purpose and possibility.

• Encourage someone who’s down! If a friend or sibling feels sad or discouraged, remind them that things can get better and that God is with them. Sharing hope can brighten someone’s whole day!

• Look for the good! When things don’t go your way, choose to notice something positive - like a lesson learned, a kind person, or a small victory. Focusing on hope helps you shine God’s light even when life feels hard.

Mountain Melee

Hey, it’s Tambika! This bonus mission we’re sending you on is definitely tough, but I think you are the right Lightglider for the job! You’ll be going into the mountains to take on another Machine spawner. You’ll need some fancy gliding skills to brave the waves of Machines!

Be ready to dodge and weave through the Machine attacks, and let the Gliddles you rescue help you out! Be sure to check your Gliddles’ energy levels at the bottom of the screen. If all of your Gliddles are tired, send them back to the Academy and rescue more!

Once you’ve defeated the Machine spawner, you’ll be able to save all the Gliddles without trouble. Try to save a purple Gliddle or two for the end. Their chain lightning powers are very strong against Machines that try to rush at you. Keep them at bay and glide on!

Hey Lightgliders!

‍

Over the last few weeks, we’ve learned about Creation, Rebellion, and Redemption. Now it’s time for the final chapter of the Far Greater Story–Restoration! Every good story has a BIG ending. Well, the Far Greater Story has the BIGGEST ending that actually leads to a new beginning. This is the one part of the Far Greater Story that we have yet to experience fully. It will happen some time in the future, and we can look forward to it with great anticipation!

‍

To restore something means to bring it back to its original condition. This is what God will do with our broken world when Jesus comes back. God has redeemed His children through Jesus, but we still experience the consequences of sin and rebellion in the world today. Jesus has promised us that He will return and make right all that has gone wrong. This is what “Restoration” is all about. Scripture tells us that there will be no more pain, or crying, or suffering for those who have placed their faith in Jesus.

Until that day comes, we can work to restore the world around us in small ways. Every word of truth that we speak and every act of love that we do in His name points to this future restoration. When we shine light in the darkness, we are a signpost of what is to come.

River Rapids

Hello! It’s Nisha. I have a bonus mission for you, along the river in the Yonders! It looks like there are lots of Machines down there, but they all seem...tiny. You’ll have to look out for these teensy Machines, they’ll try to bite you! Keep your distance from them!

Your armor defense system has a long range and can stun Machines for a short time, but it isn’t very powerful. Try grabbing a blue Gliddle to deal with the Machines on either shore. Blue Gliddles are slow to fire, but they have a long range and deal a ton of damage!

Grab all the coins and you will finish this mission! Glide on!

Hey Lightgliders!

When we are captivated by God’s love, we will love others! We will see others as Jesus sees them - worthy of love and dignity! When we choose to love others with our words and actions, it affects our hearts. And when you genuinely feel concern for others in your heart, you will grow in compassion. Having compassion means that you are tenderhearted toward other people. Through compassion, you can place ourselves in their shoes and treat them with love, dignity, and respect. If you understand God’s compassion towards you, you will be compassionate toward others.

Who do you have a genuine concern for? How do you show it? This is compassion. It may look a little different for everyone. We can write notes of encouragement, listen to others’ problems, invite a new friend to sit with us during school lunch, or tell our parents how much we love them. Small acts of compassion make a big difference.

Can you imagine if everyone showed a little bit of compassion every day? It would change the world!

• Write or Speak Kind Words! Write a short note or say something kind to a classmate, teacher, or family member who might be having a hard day. Compassion can be as simple as using your words to lift someone up!

• Listen and Help! When a friend or sibling is upset, stop what you’re doing and really listen. Offer to pray for them or help in a small way. Listening with care shows that your heart is full of God’s love.

We have been discussing The Far Greater Story of God’s love for us in recent weeks. We are currently learning about redemption and how God bought back our lives through Jesus. When we understand this truth and how greatly we are loved, we will live with courage!

To be courageous is to be brave. To take risks. To initiate. To try new things. To do hard things. To not be afraid of failing. We can be courageous because our confidence comes from God’s endless love for us, and not from anything else!

As Lightgliders, we will not shrink back from difficulties or danger. We will not run away from opportunities to help those in need.

Be courageous today, Lightgliders! Remember that you are never alone. Nothing can separate you from God’s love.

Timberlands Approach

Hey, it’s Bryce! Are you ready to take on the Machines once again? We’re sending you to the Timberlands Approach, an area infested with Machines! Rescue the Gliddles there and get ready to battle!

Watch out for Machine attacks, especially from the blue Machines! Their blasts are very powerful. If you get hit too much, you’ll lose a chunk of armor and have to start back at the last checkpoint!

Be careful out there, and remember to keep an eye out for secret grates!
