Hey Lightgliders!

We have talked about what it means to be a role model. We have looked at the different ways that the Lightglider leaders shine. And we have been challenged to be faithful to shine in how God has uniquely made us. So now we want to look at “impact,” which is the result of faithfulness. As you share God’s love with others in ways that only you can, you will have a great impact. God has created you with unique strengths and gifts! And, according to this week’s theme verse, He has planned good things for you to do with your life. These good things will impact the world in a positive way. I hope that as you go on missions, play games, attend events, or watch videos in Lightgliders, you discover what you are passionate about, what you are good at, and what gifts others see in you.  And as you continue to KNOW and GROW in God’s love, you will SHOW others that life with Him is an amazing adventure!

Think about the kind of impact you want to have on the world, and ask God to empower you to be and do everything He created you to be and to do.

• Ask God for guidance each day! Before breakfast, sports, or even playing a game, take a moment to pray: “God, help me make a difference today.” Asking God to guide your steps will help you stay focused on the good things He’s planned for you to do.

• Encourage others to be themselves! Sometimes, the greatest impact we have is helping others see their own worth. If you notice something awesome about a friend, sibling, or classmate—tell them! Your words might be exactly what they need to hear to keep going and growing.

• Use your strengths to serve others! Do you love helping, creating, organizing, or making people laugh? Look for ways to use those strengths each day—like helping a neighbor or sibling, making something encouraging for a friend, or bringing joy to someone who’s sad. Your impact starts with small, faithful actions!

Purple Mountain

It’s Nisha again, and I have a new mission for you. Purple Mountain is infested with Machines and blight, and it’s up to you to restore the mountain to its original majesty! 

Some Machines are trapped in the blight themselves! It’s easier to battle them while they can’t move around, so wait to clear the blight until after the Machines are defeated. Remember to clear blight before you grab the extra RES they drop! If most of your Gliddles get tired, bring them to a Zipway so that they can come to Lightglider Academy and rest.

Our scouts say that Purple Mountain is full of secret areas! Some of them lead to even more powerful Machines and many treasures, so stay alert and look out for open doors, grates, and fences!

Hey Lightgliders!

‍

We’ve been talking quite a bit about the character qualities that our Lightglider leaders display in their lives! We can look up to them and imitate the unique ways they lead, serve, and seek out God’s wisdom! Now you get to take a look at YOURSELF! One of the greatest character qualities for Lightgliders to grow in is faithfulness. The word “faithful” means to be true, steadfast, and loyal. As Lightgliders, we want to be faithful to God and to how He has uniquely made us.

‍

How has God made you unique? What gifts and talents do you have? What is your personality like? Be faithful to use these things for His glory! God is the greatest example of faithfulness. He has been, and will always be, faithful. Therefore, as you are faithful, God’s character will be on display through you!

‍

Can you think of examples of faithfulness? Here are a few that I thought of for when I am in Lightglider Academy:

• Taking care of and decorating my Treehouse so that the Gliddles have a beautiful place to live

• Partnering with the Gliddles to battle the Machines more effectively

• Sending Postcards to other Lightgliders to encourage them

• Sharing joy and wisdom at the events in the Academy each day

‍

And here are a few for when I am in my home:

• Following through on what I say I am going to do

• Honoring and obeying my parents

• Listening to my teachers and coaches

• Using my words to encourage others

• Doing my best in whatever I do

• Taking time to pray to the One who is faithful to me

When we are faithful with what God has given us, we are shining!

• Pray every day! Be faithful in your relationship with God. Whether it’s a quick prayer in the morning or thanking Him before bed, this daily habit helps you stay close to the One who is always faithful to you.

Sludge Valley

Tambika here! Are you ready for a new mission? We need you to help clean out the swampy area of Sludge Valley. Make no mistake--it can get pretty gross in the swamps! Add on Machines and blight, and you have a recipe for potential disaster! The Gliddles that live here don’t mind the usual swampy muck, but the blight makes the area completely uninhabitable. Rescue them and bring them to Zipways so they can live peacefully in the Treehouses!

Although blight usually spreads along the ground, it can also creep up tree trunks and choke the tree branches. Click on trees multiple times to slowly restore their original beauty with your RES! You can usually find amazing treasures and Materials under the blighted trees once they are fully restored!

Hey everybody, I am Santiago! I try to bring life to the Lightglider Academy party! I cannot tell you HOW MUCH FUN it is to be alive today. And I cannot tell you how great it is to be a Lightglider. 

‍

You know what the Lightglider goals are, right? RESPECT. RESCUE. RESTORE. I believe that to RESTORE includes bringing joy to people who need it. Sometimes through laughter. Sometimes through music. Sometimes through just hanging out and being friendly. Everyone is totally unique, so it can be difficult to know what will bring joy to another. I make it my goal to find out. Do you know what brings you joy? I would love to know!

I grew up in Honduras in a large house with a bunch of other boys. None of us were related but they are my brothers. We’ve been through a lot together. Do you know what brings me joy? People. Having people to talk to, hang out with, and care for is the greatest. I hope you find that here at Lightglider Academy.

Mountain Melee

Hey, it’s Tambika! This bonus mission we’re sending you on is definitely tough, but I think you are the right Lightglider for the job! You’ll be going into the mountains to take on another Machine spawner. You’ll need some fancy gliding skills to brave the waves of Machines!

Be ready to dodge and weave through the Machine attacks, and let the Gliddles you rescue help you out! Be sure to check your Gliddles’ energy levels at the bottom of the screen. If all of your Gliddles are tired, send them back to the Academy and rescue more!

Once you’ve defeated the Machine spawner, you’ll be able to save all the Gliddles without trouble. Try to save a purple Gliddle or two for the end. Their chain lightning powers are very strong against Machines that try to rush at you. Keep them at bay and glide on!

Hey Lightgliders! 

‍

My name is Tova. I was one of the first leaders here at Lightglider Academy. When I saw the Gliddles in trouble, I wanted to help. My heart was burdened and I had to do what I could. It really didn’t take a lot of thought or planning. Before I knew it, I was on a mission to the Yonders to rescue and restore.

‍

I was born and raised in Leeds, England. Growing up, I always enjoyed meeting new people and striking up conversations. I realized that many people are hurting, so I made it my mission to be a source of healing and encouragement. I care deeply for the poor, for orphans, and for those who are lonely. Who do you care deeply for?

‍

I like to think of each day as a new opportunity for a purposeful adventure. You never know what new friend or significant moment awaits you! So be on the lookout, and care for those you encounter. Ask yourself often, “What does love look like here?” And then be the love that is needed. This is the essence of CARE!

River Rapids

Hello! It’s Nisha. I have a bonus mission for you, along the river in the Yonders! It looks like there are lots of Machines down there, but they all seem...tiny. You’ll have to look out for these teensy Machines, they’ll try to bite you! Keep your distance from them!

Your armor defense system has a long range and can stun Machines for a short time, but it isn’t very powerful. Try grabbing a blue Gliddle to deal with the Machines on either shore. Blue Gliddles are slow to fire, but they have a long range and deal a ton of damage!

Grab all the coins and you will finish this mission! Glide on!

Hey Lightgliders! 

‍

My name is Marlon. You’ll usually find me hanging out in the Library at Lightglider Academy. I am from the United States and I love doing two things - reading books and working out. It’s important to exercise the mind and the body. I am often considered the more inquisitive of the Academy leaders. I investigate any new idea before believing or acting upon it. That’s why I was one of the last to join the Academy leaders. I had to make sure that rescuing Gliddles and clearing blight were the right things to do when I entered Glideon. Usually when we are thinking of others before ourselves, it is the right thing to do. But I had to make sure that the consequences of these actions were good, and not just their intention.  

‍

I am passionate about discovering truth. We are in a world filled with many ideas competing for our attention. Ideas are either helpful or hurtful to others, ourselves, and the world around us. My hope for you and for Lightgliders everywhere is that we learn to tell the difference between a good idea and a bad one. This understanding is what wisdom is all about. 

‍

I encourage you to seek wisdom and truth. Don’t be afraid to ask questions in your search. And focus on the most important questions, the ones that have the greatest impact on your life and the world around you. Two thousand years ago a man named Jesus claimed to be God. People believed him at the time and still do to this day. I encourage you to investigate if His claim is true. If it is, it impacts absolutely everything! Jesus once asked his followers “Who do you say that I am?” Take time to answer this question for yourself.

In my investigation, I found His claim to be true. I also discovered that seeking Him is the key to wisdom.

• Read a Bible story about Jesus. They are found in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Pray and ask God to help you understand what Jesus is doing or teaching in the story!

Hey Lightgliders!

My name is Nisha. I am one of the “quieter” Lightgliders. You may not notice me and I don’t mind that at all. You can make a powerful impact on the world without anyone even knowing your name!

‍

I was born and raised in India. Being the oldest of seven kids, I had a lot of responsibility with my brothers and sisters. They needed me to be consistent and caring. Do you have siblings? Having little brothers and sisters has taught me a lot about what it means to give without expecting much in return. I came to Lightglider Academy a bit nervous. There were so many big personalities and talented people here. Bryce is courageous. Tambika leads the Academy. Marlon is a genius. I didn’t know what I had to offer, so I just looked for ways to serve. I helped Bryce plan out Yonders missions in Mission Control. I assisted Kwan as he created new tech in the Innovation Lab. I worked with Tambika to organize new Treehouses for the Gliddles. One day Tova thanked me for doing the little things that seemed to go unnoticed. She said, “Nisha, you are effective at making others effective! You multiply the impact of those around you. And, for that, I say thank you!”

I have learned that little things make a big difference. It brings me joy to serve. Putting the needs of others before my own helps me to be humble and encourage others all at the same time!

Purple Mountain

It’s Nisha again, and I have a new mission for you. Purple Mountain is infested with Machines and blight, and it’s up to you to restore the mountain to its original majesty! 

Some Machines are trapped in the blight themselves! It’s easier to battle them while they can’t move around, so wait to clear the blight until after the Machines are defeated. Remember to clear blight before you grab the extra RES they drop! If most of your Gliddles get tired, bring them to a Zipway so that they can come to Lightglider Academy and rest.

Our scouts say that Purple Mountain is full of secret areas! Some of them lead to even more powerful Machines and many treasures, so stay alert and look out for open doors, grates, and fences!

Hey Lightgliders!

Hello, I’m Kwan. I was born and raised in what is known as South Korea today. I have always been curious and inventive. And I like to work behind the scenes. My biggest passion at Lightglider Academy is to figure out the blight problem. That dark ooze is destroying the land and taking away its beauty and purpose. Have you seen it yet on one of your missions? Thankfully, we can use the RES harvested in the Treehouses to clear the blight. But, I want to find a permanent solution. That is my goal.

‍

I usually hang out in the Innovation Lab. Feel free to come visit me there. I work closely with the Gliddles to invent things that can help -- better gliders, new technologies, stuff like that. To solve problems, we need to be creative and we need to work together!

‍

I don’t like to be the center of attention but that doesn’t mean I can’t make a powerful impact on the world. I work behind the scenes to help Tambika run the Academy, assist Bryce on missions, and support each Lightglider in their mission to Respect, Rescue and Restore. I have discovered ways to use my unique gifts to help others. I’ve learned that a great way to develop friendships is to be a friend to everyone and to look for ways to serve. When we work with our friends, using our unique gifts, we can accomplish great things while building a wonderful community!

Keep Out!

It’s Kwan again! I wanted to give you some tips for taking on this mission. We’re sending you back into the abandoned building where lots of Machines have taken up residence. There’s a defense jammer installed there, so if you don’t have a Gliddle with you, you won’t be able to battle Machines! You have to use your wits and careful gliding to get you out of some sticky situations!

There’s a powerful Machine at the end of the mission. Concentrate on avoiding its blasts and let the Gliddles you find do their work!

Don’t forget to check for secret areas; the overgrowth in the building might have opened up new pathways!

Hey Lightgliders! 

Tambika asked me to tell you a little about myself and share one of the character qualities that stands out in my life. I’m Bryce, one of the leaders at Lightglider Academy. I’m from Australia, and I’m passionate about doing courageous things, like going on missions to the Yonders, shining light in the darkness, and sharing the good news with my friends.

I’ll admit, when I first got to Glideon, I was a bit reckless and needed some refining. You can read all about it in Bryce in the Lost Pearl. Truthfully, I still need refining, but I’m not afraid to step out in faith and try to make an impact. Well, maybe I should say it this way: I do feel fear sometimes, but I don’t let fear overcome faith.

You see, living for something greater than ourselves is the secret to living a life of purpose. And when you follow Jesus, you are living for something greater than yourself. That “something” is actually a Someone — the greatest Someone ever! Following Jesus is not always easy, but it makes life an incredible adventure.

I suppose one of my most admirable character qualities is bravery. That simply means living with courage! No matter what I am facing, I know that God loves me and is with me. Because of that, I can be brave, keep going, and trust Him through challenges.

If you want to learn new things, make a difference in the lives of others, and tell others about Jesus, you will need to be brave. So let me ask you this: what is happening in your life right now that requires bravery? Whatever it is, I encourage you to trust God, face it with courage, and keep going!

Jabari yako rafiki! That means ‘How are you my friend?’ in Swahili. I’m Tambika. I manage Lightglider Academy while Professor Watts is away. Running this place isn’t easy, but it is rewarding. I try to meet all the new Lightgliders when they arrive in the Courtyard. That is a fun part of my job!

I was born and raised in what is now Tanzania. Do you know where that is? It is a beautiful country in Africa. Growing up, I always looked for leadership positions in my community. I love to serve others through organization. I love plans. I love calendars. I love details. And all of these things are important at Lightglider Academy. Otherwise, everything would be more chaotic than it already is!

I encourage you to use your gifts to serve others. We need people in this world with all types of gifts and talents. No matter how you are gifted, always remember that being a leader means serving others first. This is called servant leadership.

Bryce here! I’ve pinpointed the location of an abandoned Institute. It’s full of Machines that we have to battle, as well as Gliddles we need to rescue! 

Be careful roaming those halls--our sensors show that there are giant Machines inside. Team up with Gliddles and battle hard! Remember, if a Gliddle gets tired, the next Gliddle will take its place as your battle partner. Right-click to switch Gliddles on the fly. Maybe you want to conserve a Gliddle’s energy, or maybe you’ll want to use the right Gliddle for the job!

There seems to be an interconnected door system in the Institute. Unlocking one door will unlock many others! Be on the lookout for door switches and out-of-place grates!

I have the distinct privilege of introducing our new series called “Ways to Shine.” In this series, we will talk about the Lightglider leaders you’ve met in the Academy and the positive character qualities that they possess. They each serve as ROLE MODELS because of the various ways they shine. A role model is someone you can look up to! He or she serves as an example for how to live, how to treat people, and how to grow in your faith. I can’t tell you how important it is to have good role models!  One of my first role models ever was Marlon, who hangs out in the Academy Library.  Marlon cares about me and shows me what it looks like to have faith in God and study the Bible. Who are some of your role models? It could be a parent, an older sibling, a teacher, a coach, or perhaps a leader in your church. I encourage you to find someone you look up to, watch how they live their lives, and ask them lots of questions. And remember to listen to their answers!

Entryway

Hi there! My name’s Kwan, and I handle technology at the Academy. I have a mission for you that requires some quick thinking! The Entryway to some sort of abandoned building has a ton of special switches and secrets, so explore every nook and cranny of this level! Rumor has it that there’s also some sort of giant Machine somewhere on the Entryway grounds!
